Kristen Proby is the Queen of Swoon! Her With Me in Seattle series has continuously stolen my heart.
Play With Me, the latest in the series, features Will Montgomery and Megan McBride. Will is a successful NFL quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks. He can come off as an arrogant athlete, but underneath he is a big sweetheart and extremely passionate. Megan captures his interests from the first moment he met her with her open hostility and flat out refusal to go out with him. It’s rare for him to hear the word “no”. He is determined to get under her skin and get her under him. Megan can’t resist his advances, so she does what she can to fortify the wall around her heart. Sadly, she has abandonment issues. Her mother was a piece of work leading to Megan entering the foster care system as a pre-teen. The only person in her life to ever show they cared and loved her was another foster care kid who took her under his wing. Disappointingly, for Megan, he too eventually leaves her behind. For her, love and loss go hand in hand. Will does his best to break through, but fear has a strong grip. Unless she can conquer that fear, it may cost her everything.
“When I take you, you’ll know exactly what we’re doing, what you’re feeling, and I won’t stop until your legs are shaking and the neighbors know my name.”
Will, oh dear Lord, Will Montgomery shamelessly took my heart and disintegrated my panties in the process. That quote above almost had ME shouting out his name! That is just an example of how scorching this man is. Will and Meg are perfect for each other. She is beautifully strong and assertive, but timid when it comes to love. She has kept her life focused on her career as a nurse at the children’s hospital. She sees past the shiny “football star”. She cares nothing about his money or fame; just him. I love how protective Will is of Meg. Although, at one point that protection leads to an idiotic move that left me fearful of their future. The sexual heat between these two is combustible! There is a scene that takes place out in the open in the pouring rain that is one of the hottest, literary orgasmic producing things I’ve read and left me panting for more. Oh and Ms. Proby gratifyingly delivers more.
One of the things that enamored me with this series is the fact that everyone we previously met is back; their stories continue. Kristen Proby writes real life, and as in real life, her characters don’t stop living with the end of a book. They add to the charm and humor; making it more connectable to us readers because we’ve come to know and love them. Once again this fan girl will be waiting on the edge of her seat for the next installment.
