Blog Tour: Sins Of September By: Graysen Blue

***Readers Must Be 18+. Please Note That This Book Includes Explicit Sexual Content***

I’m no angel. I never was. But when Mama left us just short of my fourteenth birthday, any chance of me becoming angelic flew out the window.

My step-father, Jesse, had been the only ‘father-figure’ in my life from the time I was six years-old, but all that came to an end when Mama left. I was sent to live with my grandparents in another state; my half-sister, Scout, remained with Jesse, her daddy. And my world had crashed around me.

Fast-forward four years. I’m almost eighteen and a somewhat normal teenage girl who’s curious about her sexuality, and determined to find someone like my Mama had – but hadn’t appreciated. As luck would have it, my stepfather wants me to spend the summer going into my senior year in Arkansas with them. He needs me to take care of my little sister, Scout over the summer.

Four years have changed both Jesse and me in ways we hadn’t considered. It isn’t long before I encounter the obstacles involved in getting what it is I really want: Jesse Ryan.

Complications follow, and I learn more than I ever anticipated that summer, not only about myself and my sexuality, but also about being true to myself, and putting others that I love first.

Blog Tour: Beautiful Collision By: T.G. Ayer

Eighteen year old Gray McAllister is on the run. Leaving her dangerous past behind her is easier said than done, even when she finds herself at last able to forge a new life for herself.

But then the planets align and Gray finds herself bumping into super-hot Thane Blackwell. Drooling over him from afar is safe but that’s only until she is forced to look after Thane while he recovers from surgery.

Being holed up in her apartment is a bad bad idea. Can Gray control the fire that Thane seems light inside her, or will she give in to her deepest desires. Can Thane achieve his goal without hurting Gray in the process?

The stakes are impossibly high, but love and lies don’t play nice with each other. Will Gray’s past catch up with her first? Or will Thane’s own secrets explode and tear them apart?

Beautiful Collision.  I have attempted to write this review since I finished reading the book and I am having problems because I am honestly not sure if I liked the book or hated it.  I think I am leaning more towards the liked it side of the equation but there are reasons why I am not stating strongly that I liked or hated it.  It wouldn’t be fair without a little bit of reasoning behind my indecision right?  So let me try to explain why I am torn.
First let me start with what I didn’t like overall.  I had a hard time really connecting with Gray, I didn’t feel any emotion at her at all to be honest.  She did go through hell, I am not saying that she didn’t but I am not sure if it was the author’s writing style or the character itself I just couldn’t connect with her, what she was going through and what she survived at all.  I usually do not mind flash back scenes because it usually helps the reader see things in their past that helps you understand why they are the way they are and so on.  In Beautiful Collision, the flash back chapters jumped around and could get confusing as to if it happened six months prior, four months prior or even if it happened the day before the book begins.  It took away from the storyline at times and that for me was the one thing I disliked the most.  I am not even upset that there is a cliff hanger, by the time I was close to the end I could tell we wouldn’t finish Gray’s story in this book.
Okay enough of the bad now onto what I did like.  I really liked the that we also have Thane’s POV in the book, and even though as a reader you know what he does to get close to Gray is just wrong, that there is more to his feelings than he lets on.  I actually really like storylines where maybe one person isn’t exactly who they portray themselves to be so I think that is what kept me reading and not putting the book down and walking away.  I wish we would have had more of his POV but I am sure in the next book we will, or at least I hope so.  The storyline while like some others I have read has some twists that I didn’t see coming and I want to see how this is going to play out.

While I may be torn on my feelings with this book, I don’t want that from keeping you from checking it out for yourself.  What doesn’t always work for one person works for another.  You wouldn’t give up eating all types of cake if you tried one flavor you didn’t like would you?  So form your own opinion but know that I will be reading the next book just to see where the storyline is headed.
I have been a writer from the time I was old enough to recognize that reading was a doorway into my imagination. Poetry was my first foray into the art of the written word. Books were my best friends, my escape, my haven. I am essentially a recluse but this part of my personality is impossible to practice given I have two teenage daughters, who are actually my friends, my tea-makers, my confidantes… I am blessed with a husband who has left me for golf. It’s a fair trade as I have left him for writing. We are both passionate supporters of each others loves – it works wonderfully…

My heart is currently broken in two. One half resides in South Africa where my old roots still remain, and my heart still longs for the endless beaches and the smell of moist oil after a summer downpour. My love for Ma Afrika will never fade. The other half of me has been transplanted to the Land of the Long White Cloud. The land of the Taniwha, beautiful Maraes, and volcanoes. The land of green, pure beauty that truly inspires. And because I am so torn between these two lands – I shall forever remain cross-eyed.

I love talking to my readers so email me if you have any questions or even if you just want to chat…

Launch Day Blitz & Giveaway: Kaleidoscope by Kristen Ashley

Sexy, gifted, and loyal, PI Jacob Decker is a tall, cool drink of perfection who had Emmanuelle Holmes at “hello.” His relationship with Emme’s best friend kept them apart for years, but things have changed. Now that a case has brought him to Gnaw Bone, Colorado, the road is wide open for Emme and Deck to explore something hotter and deeper than Emme dreamed possible. So why is she sabotaging the best thing that’s ever happened to her?

It isn’t easy to catch Deck off guard, but Emme does just that when she walks back into his life after nine long years. The curvy brunette had her charms back in the day, but now she’s a bona fide knockout . . . and she wants to rekindle their friendship. Deck, however, wants more. Emme’s always been the one; she excites Deck’s body and mind like no other woman can. But a dark chapter from Emme’s past overshadows their future together. Now only Deck can help her turn the page-if she’ll let him . . .

Review
Alright, so this one almost lost me within the first chapter. I know, yikes, right? But I’m so glad I stuck to it. It’s a solid 4 star read for me.

This story was about second chances. How often do we get those? Another shot to get it right. Decker thought he had everything he ever wanted in his ex-girlfriend; too bad she didn’t feel the same. However, there was always someone there in the background. Someone he truly connected with, but sadly didn’t see the possibility till years later.

Emme walking back into Decker’s life is not something he ever imagined. Her best friend mutilated his heart. When that relationship ended, so did his friendship with Emme. But the Emme standing before him now is a changed woman. No longer hiding in the shadows, she’s embraced life. She’s dumped the frumpy clothing that use to shield her in the past and has emerged as a stunning, confident beauty. Decker quickly realizes that the woman for him, the right woman, was always there; he was just too blind to see it before.

Emme and Decker complement each other. He’s this strong alpha man. She’s this tough confident woman who’s never needed a man and he knows it. Yet they fit perfectly. He brings out a passion she’s never felt. She provides a softness that’s lacking in his life. At the same time they challenge each other.

Of course things can’t just be as easy as reconnecting with a lost friend. Nope. You have to throw some bad guys and unresolved issues into the mix. But, hey this all makes for a good read.

Excerpt
I dropped my leg so I was sitting cross-legged in the couch and leaned into him. “Honey, you remember everything so I don’t have to remind you I haven’t seen you in nine years. I dig it that we reconnected and I love having you back.” I again threw an arm out, this time toward him and back to me. “This is great. You and me spending time together, shooting the breeze. I missed that. And I get it that friends make gestures, but this is too much.”
His eyes warmed during this speech and he took his arms from the couch, bent his legs, leaned into them, and me, and put his elbows to his knees, never releasing my eyes.
“Baby, I want you warm and liquid. The first bein’ physically, the second bein’ financially. You stop payin’ so much for heat, you’ll have more money for the rest of the shit you gotta do.”
This made sense.
But he’d again called me “baby.”
And I needed to address that.
So I asked, “What is that?”
His head cocked and his eyebrows drew together. “What’s what?”
I drew in breath and on the exhale, stated, “You calling me baby.” Then I went on quickly, “Not that I don’t like it. It’s sweet. It’s just not…” I hesitated, “us.”
Something happened to his eyes, his face, his whole big body and that something made me brace at the same time it made my heartbeat escalate.
“You know what it is,” he said softly.
I didn’t.
“I don’t,” I shared.
His eyes stayed locked to mine and I knew him relatively well, or I used to. But even if we hadn’t been separated for years, I still would not have been forewarned to the fact he was about to blow my mind.
“Before, we had Elsbeth between us. My head was fucked about that, about her, and it took almost a decade to get it unfucked. Lookin’ back, havin’ you back, I now know and I reckon you know, that’s the way it was. She was between us. She knew it too. And she didn’t like it. But it didn’t matter. My head was fucked so I couldn’t see clear of her and not doin’ that, I didn’t see you.”
I knew my lips had parted. I also knew my eyes got big. And last, I had no clue what to say.
So I said nothing.
“Now she isn’t between us,” he finished.
It was then I knew what the “baby” business was.
I just had no idea how to react to it because I never considered it. He was beautiful. He was kind. He was smart. He was funny and interesting and affectionate.
But he was my best friend’s boyfriend.
That didn’t mean my mind didn’t go there in vague ways, not stupid enough to wish for something I could never have, just silently covetous of what Elsbeth had. And, because of all that he was and that Elsbeth had it, in the end, infuriated she threw it away. Angry enough to end an important friendship because of it.
Sitting there, all that was Jacob, and all that being spectacular sitting across from me, holding my eyes, I finally understood that the reason I was angry at my friend was because, in throwing Jacob away, she took him away from me.
And now I had him back, but also, he was saying I’d always had him a different way, we just didn’t go there and he was going to take us there.
Yes. I had no clue what to say but my body had a clue how to feel. Warm and there were a lot more tingles.
“Jacob—” I started on a whisper.
But he interrupted again.
“You saw me, asked me out to dinner that same night, no fuckin’ around. Since then, you’ve called twice for no reason except to connect, and, baby, before you freak that I noticed that and what it said, I’ll tell you, I’m fuckin’ glad you did and I’m also fuckin’ glad about what it said. The boyfriend you were on the fence about, you got off the fence in less than twenty-four hours after seein’ me again and decided to get shot of his ass. And you didn’t waste any time gettin’ me right where I am tonight. That is not friends reconnecting. You know it. So do I.”
“I—”
“Don’t deny it.”
I shut my mouth.
About the author:
Kristen Ashley grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana, and has lived in Denver, Colorado, and the West Country of England. Thus she has been blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her posse is loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write. Kristen was raised in a house with a large and multigenerational family. They lived on a very small farm in a small town in the heartland, and Kristen grew up listening to the strains of Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon, and Whitesnake. Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music and love was a good way to grow up.  And as she keeps growing up, it keeps getting better.

Release Day Blitz: Where Darkness Lies By: Bella Jewel

Anger and pain brought them together, but their passion might just set them free.

Dimitri wants only one thing: revenge. His stepfather, Hendrix, has caused him nothing but pain and heartache. At last Dimitri can take something—someone—important to Hendrix and make him pay: Jess.

Jess is feisty and strong headed. Her past haunts her and connects her to the dangerously dark Dimitri in an unexpected way. Dimitri keeps his secrets locked deep inside, and Jess is drawn to this broken man like no one before.

With little to cling to besides their haunting pasts, both could have been doomed to lives spent raging against the darkness that holds them prisoner. Instead, it seems that as their pain draws them closer together, it is their desire that will set them free.

I was a huge fan of Enslaved By The Ocean but in my opinion Where Darkness Lies has blown it away.  You first meet Dimitri in Enslaved By The Ocean and you want to hate him but you know that he has suffered and he blames his step-father, Hendrix, revenge and rage has fueled him for years.  Dimitri thinks that Jess is the way to achieve his goal, little does he know that Jess will do so much more for him than he ever had planned.
Jess is a nurse on Dimitri’s ship but she has a damaged past, one that she believed ruined her from ever having true happiness.  When Dimitri kidnaps her she sure as hell doesn’t make things easy for him.  Slowly she starts to see beneath Dimitri’s hard exterior and sees that there is more to him than people see.
I loved how both Dimitri and Jess interacted with each other, and that Jess didn’t cower from his intensity.  The relationship between them slowly moves from captor/captive to sort of friends and then so much more.  Neither person trusts easily, which is understandable but it is beautiful when these two begin to trust each other.  Is their relationship perfect?  Oh hell no!  Both make mistakes, Dimitri makes a massive one, one where even reading it the second time (cause yep I had to read it twice it really is that damn good) I wish I could have punched him in the balls.  I love how this book shows that even in the darkness, a light can break through and not just bring in the light but also bring healing and forgiveness.

I am very curious as to who the next book in this series will be about.  I have stated before how much I love Bella Jewel’s books and my love has grown more with Where Darkness Lies.  Make sure you read Enslaved By The Ocean first and I promise you that you will love these pirates as much as I have.

Cover Reveal: Fighting Silence By: Aly Martinez

Sound is an abstract concept for most people. We spend our lives blocking out the static in order to focus on what we believe is important. But what if, when the clarity fades into silence, it’s the obscure background noise that you would give anything to hold on to?
I’ve always been a fighter. With parents who barely managed to stay out of jail and two little brothers who narrowly avoided foster care, I became skilled at dodging the punches life threw at me. Growing up, I didn’t have anything I could call my own, but from the moment I met Eliza Reynolds, she was alwaysmine.  I became utterly addicted to her and the escape from reality we provided each other. Throughout the years, she had boyfriends and I had girlfriends, but there wasn’t a single night that I didn’t hear her voice.
You see, meeting the love of my life at age thirteen was never part of my plan. However, neither was gradually going deaf at the age of twenty-one.
They both happened anyway.
Now, I’m on the ropes during the toughest battles of my life.
Fighting for my career.
Fighting the impending silence.
Fighting for her.
Every night, just before falling asleep, she sighs as a final conscious breath leaves her.
I think that’s the sound I’ll miss the most.

FIGHTING SILENCE Cover Reveal Excerpt
“That wasn’t yours to take away,” he exploded into the otherwise silent night. His words echoed off the surrounding buildings, each wave slicing me to the quick all over again. “That was our place. Not yours.” His voice cracked right alongside my heart.
“Yeah, well, there was a lot of stuff that wasn’t yours to take either.” I held his gaze, desperately trying to be strong, but as his eyes grew wide, I whimpered.
His long legs strode forward, stopping only inches away from me. He was crowding me, but he still leaned in closer to my face. “There is nothing in this world that was ever more mine than you,” he stated. Though it was the absolute truth, I wished with all my heart that it were a lie.
“Till,” I cried, swiping the tears from my eyes.
“Why!” he shouted, causing his muscles to tense under the force. “Goddamn it! I needed that place.”
Porch lights flashed on from the surrounding apartments, illuminating not only the dark but also my rage.
I shoved my hands into his chest. “What about what I needed? You left! I waited in that fucking apartment for weeks.”
He didn’t budge, but my bare feet slipped, sending me toward the ground. Impossibly fast, Till’s hand snaked out and caught my arm. I didn’t let his chivalrous gesture douse my fire. I had six months’ worth of words to say to the man I was irrevocably in love with.
“You took what you wanted. Then you left me.”
“Doodle,” he whispered.
I had been perilously close to the edge of insanity, and with one single word, he’d pushed me over.
I lost it completely.
Pounding my fists against his chest, I screamed at the top of my lungs, “It’s Eliza! My name is fucking Eliza! Not Doodle!” I spun to march away, but Till’s arms folded around me, lifting me off my feet to restrain me.
I was miniscule compared to him. There was no use in fighting, but I still kicked my legs, irrationally desperate to get away from him—but only because I knew I couldn’t keep him for forever.
“Stop it!” he growled into my ear. “I know your Goddamn name—probably better than I know my own.”

Born and raised in Savannah, Georgia, Aly Martinez is a stay-at-home mom to four crazy kids under the age of five, including a set of twins. Currently living in South Carolina, she passes what little free time she has reading anything and everything she can get her hands on, preferably with a glass of wine at her side.
After some encouragement from her friends, Aly decided to add “Author” to her ever-growing list of job titles. Five books later, she shows no signs of slowing. So grab a glass of Chardonnay, or a bottle if you’re hanging out with Aly, and join her aboard the crazy train she calls life.

Blog Tour: Presently Perfect By: Alison G. Bailey

Perfection is an illusion fueled by the perception of others.

****

Tweet was my heart, my soul, and my purpose.
She was my everything.
Neither of us were perfect. We both made mistakes. Looking back, that was okay, because every choice brought us to where we needed to be at the time we needed to be there. The one constant, our love and friendship.
There are two sides to every story and I wouldn’t trade our sides for anything in the world.

First let me start off by saying please read Present Perfect before reading Presently Perfect.  You will have a much better understanding even though this is in Noah’s POV, having Amanda/Tweet’s POV first makes this so much more meaningful.  Secondly make sure you have boxes of tissues close by, I am still contemplating sending Ms. Bailey my bill for Puffs after reading this book.
This has to be one of top reads for 2014.  I fell in love with Tweet and Noah in Present Perfect, but have given my undying affection and love for these two after Presently Perfect.  As I stated above this is in Noah’s POV and while we do reread some scenes we have read before they are still different because being able to finally see and feel what Noah was during everything that goes on makes it all that much more emotional.  Now were there times when I wanted to slap the ever loving shit out of Noah, yes there was.  Can I just ask this: What the hell was up with the B squad, aka Beth, Brittani, and Brooke I was beginning to wonder if he had some sort of fetish with sluts whose names start with the letter B.
Anyways, I shall move on.  Noah while he may have been with someone he never lost what he felt for his Tweet, and he suffered just as much emotionally as she did when she would push him away.  His reaction to when he finds out about Tweet being sick had me crying massive ugly tears because I could feel his pain.  I cried a lot during this book, just like I did in Present Perfect, but I think I cried more this time around.
I could go on and on about how angsty, heart wrenching, emotional and gut twisting Presently Perfect was, but what I want you to know is that it was a beautifully written story about two best friends whose lives are far from perfect but when you have something as special as Noah and Tweet have, then your life is perfect in its own way.  Alison G. Bailey has shredded me not once but twice with the story of Tweet and Noah’s journey to happiness, hell I have tears in my eyes while I am typing this review (more tissues needed again).   I will always remember both of these books for a very long time to come and they will hold a special place in my heart.

EXCERPT:

I was standing one step below Tweet when she broke free from Brad, twisting her body in my direction. I let go of her other wrist and caught her as she fell toward me. Her arms wrapped around my neck as I grabbed hold of her hips, trying to keep her steady.
Tweet’s head tilted back as she clung to me. “Look, Brad! It’s Noah! My Noah!” Her voice was ear-splittingly high. “He’s so sweet and sexy. He’s swexy. He licked my thigh under my parents’ dinner table.” She straightened her head, bringing her forehead to rest on mine. The look in her eyes had turned smoldering, her voice husky when she asked, “You remember licking me, Noah?”
We had a huge fight just a little over an hour ago and now she was completely wasted; her clothes were rumpled, she had pieces of sand stuck to her face, her hair was a tangled windblown mess, and she reeked of tequila and the ocean. But she was still the most beautiful thing I had ever laid my eyes on. My expression teetered from snarling at the Smurffucker to wanting to smile at Tweet.
God, even drunk she’s adorable.
I was either the biggest idiot known to mankind or so beyond in love with this girl that all my common sense and self-preservation got obliterated when I was around her. My heart was pounding against my chest while the temperature in the room soared. The tension in my muscles was beginning to disappear and I was getting lost in teal eyes. I needed some distance.
My hands moved to Tweet’s shoulders and I helped her stand upright. “I’m taking you home.”
“But Brad was going to do some things to me on purpose. I don’t know what, but I’m having fun. Hey! You want to come with us?” she asked, hooking her arm around mine.
My gaze zeroed in on Brad glaring down at me, his jaw clenched tight. My priority was to get Tweet home safe. I’d deal with this asshole later.
I snaked my arm around Tweet’s waist and led her down the steps. She was abruptly yanked away from me. I whipped around and saw Brad clutching Tweet’s arm.
“Haven’t you done enough to her tonight? She’s having a great time with me, so get your fucking hands off of her,” he growled.
Tweet smiled up at him, then turned to me, and said, “I really am having fun. He’s not a Smurffucker at all.”
Glaring at Brad, I grabbed Tweet’s hand, and led her toward the front door. We had taken two steps when I felt her being tugged away from me again. I let go of her hand, walked over to Brad, and punched him in the stomach. His hand fell from Tweet as he doubled over and dropped to the floor. I picked up Tweet, tossed her over my shoulder, and finally headed out uninterrupted.
Just before reaching the front door Tweet grabbed the waistband of my pants, lifting herself up slightly, and yelled, “Bye-bye, Brad! Thanks! Maybe you can lick my thigh next time! Bye-bye!”
Once we were at my truck, I lowered Tweet off my shoulder until her feet touched the ground. Her eyes struggled to stay opened, losing the battle, right before she passed out. I wrapped my arm around her waist, holding her body against mine while I unlocked my truck. I placed her in the seat and leaned over to fasten her in. The click of the seatbelt caused her to stir. Reaching my hand up to her face, my thumb brushed away the dusting of sand that clung to her cheek.
Her eyes stayed closed as a lazy grin slowly appeared across her pink lips. “Mmmm…,” she moaned. “Noah.” She sounded breathy.
“Yeah, Tweet?”
“You’re my knight in plastic armor.”
A slight chuckle escaped me as I remembered our Halloween costumes from when we were six years old.
“You always take care of me and make sure I have candy,” she said, her voice trailing off.
I stared at her for several seconds, simply enjoying the view. As I inched away from her, she shifted in the seat.
Another slight moan flowed over her lips, and she whispered, “I love you Noah.”

I knew she wouldn’t remember saying those words to me tomorrow, but that didn’t matter. The only thing that counted was that for the first time she let go of her heart, her head, and allowed herself to love me. There was nothing better than when the girl of your dreams made all of yours come true.
