Blog Tour: Up In Smoke By Tessa Bailey

Never start a fire you can’t control…

Connor Bannon is supposed to be dead. Dishonorably discharged from the Navy SEALs, he’s spent the last two years working as a street enforcer in Brooklyn for his cousin’s crime ring. Through a twist of fate, he’s now in Chicago, working undercover to bust criminals. But when a cute little arsonist joins the team-all combat boots, tiny jean shorts, and hot-pink hair-Connor’s notorious iron control slips.

Erin “she’s getting away” O’Dea knows two things. She hates authority. And… Nope, that’s it. When she’s forced to operate on the “right” side of the law, her fear of being confined and controlled blazes to the surface. The last thing she expects is a control freak like Connor to soothe her when she needs it most. Worse, something behind the sexy ex-soldier’s eyes ignites a dangerous inferno of desire. One that invites Erin to play with fire. And one that could get them both killed…

Barnes & Noble:
As if her thoughts had made him appear, Connor strode into the courthouse. Her pulse started beating double time, her stomach muscles tightening. Good Lord, the man was a fucking panty dropper. She’d only been away from him for a few hours and it felt like years since she’d experienced his presence. In jeans and a fitted gray T-shirt that molded to his muscles like her hands itched to do, he personified confidence and authority. Hot, rugged male. His gaze connected with hers immediately and darkened. She thought back to that morning when he’d dressed in the early morning light, his abs flexing as he pulled the shirt over his head. His erection barely contained by his boxers. She’d never been one to beg for anything, but she’d been seconds from offering him her mouth. Pleading for the privilege of sucking him off.
Conner shook his head at her with a sexy half smile on his face, as if he could read her thoughts across the room. He stopped at the metal detector and walked through after the security guard beckoned him forward. When the woman grabbed her wand and instructed him to raise his hands in the air, something ugly reared its head deep inside her. The detector hadn’t even beeped. There was no reason for the personal service. When the woman smiled at Connor and ran a hand down her ponytail, Erin propelled herself forward, boots echoing on the polished marble.
Erin hissed as she drew even with the guard. “If you’re done feeling up my boyfriend, I’d love a turn. We were in a rush this morning.”
The guard dropped the wand, letting it dangle near her thigh. “Did you just hiss at me?”
Erin hissed again.
“Okay.” Connor stepped between them, winking down at her. “We should go. Don’t want to keep the clerk waiting.”
Appreciation spread in her belly like honey. He hadn’t chided her for her behavior or apologized to the woman on her behalf. Instead he’d given the impression they were on their way to get married, appeasing her jealousy in one fell swoop. “That’s right.” She sauntered toward the elevator. “There’s vows to be exchanged. Rings to put on fingers. Shit like that.”
She glanced behind her to find Connor staring at her ass as she walked, so she put a little swing in her hips and savored his groan. Damn. She’d definitely never had this much fun at a courthouse.
A moment later, she and Connor stepped into an empty elevator. She hit the button for the top floor even though the clerk was on the first, and leaned back against the wall, looking up at him through her eyelashes. “How was your morning, baby? Was it worth leaving me in bed, all hot and bothered for you?”
“Fuck no, it wasn’t.” He crooked a big finger at her. “Climb on up here.”
About the Author!
Thank you for your interest in my books! I’m Tessa and I live in the crazy, loud, overcrowded borough of Brooklyn, New York. I love it here. This city is a constant source of inspiration, which is why I’ve decided to set my most recent books in the Line of Duty Series here.
I moved to New York when I was eighteen, the day after I graduated high school. Threw my suitcase in the back of a Chevrolet Cavalier and drove across the country to find my adventure. I’m still finding it, little by little.Thank you for being a part of it.

ARC Review: Ride Steady By Kristen Ashley

The ride of her life . . .
Once upon a time, Carissa Teodoro believed in happy endings. Money, marriage, motherhood: everything came easy—until she woke up to the ugly truth about her Prince Charming. Now a struggling, single mom and stranded by a flat tire, Carissa’s pondering her mistakes when a vaguely familiar knight rides to her rescue on a ton of horsepower.

Climb on and hold tight . . . In high school, Carson Steele was a bad boy loner who put Carissa on a pedestal where she stayed far beyond his reach. Today, he’s the hard-bodied biker known only as Joker, and from the way Carissa’s acting, it’s clear she’s falling fast. While catching her is irresistible, knowing what to do with her is a different story. A good girl like Carissa is the least likely fit with the Chaos Motorcycle Club. Too bad holding back is so damned hard. Now, as Joker’s secrets are revealed and an outside threat endangers the club, Joker must decide whether to ride steady with Carissa—or ride away forever . . .

With every Kristen Ashley book that I read I always walk away with a gift, that gift being a lesson to be learned, a bit of knowledge that I may not have taken the time to time on, and a feeling that even during the dark times in our lives that if we hang on to the hope that we will get through it and come out the other side into the light.  Now that is a lot to just know will happen but if you have read any of her books you know that I speak from my heart when I say that these things are true.  Ride Steady was no exception, like all of her books there is a lesson to be learned and it was one that I will always remember.
Joker’s past is one that could have turned him into a different man, one that would have been completely different than the man he is today.  Let me try to elaborate without giving anything away.  He is not an angel by any means, but what he is, is a man who lived through hell, rose above it, became the man he is today by being who he always was in his heart and isn’t going to apologize for some of the things he has done to become that man.  Joker is talented, smart, has a huge heart, but he is also Chaos which means he is alpha, badass, take no shit type of man, in other words he is a man who is a man and acts like a man.
Clarissa was sweet, at times sassy, and I think the perfect balance of her sweet to Joker’s hard.  Her own life was in turmoil with her ex-husband and trying to take care of her infant son Travis.  She wasn’t weak, she had be beaten down emotionally but fought to pick herself back up to carry on for not just her but her son as well.  When some truths come to light, some women would have just walked away without looking back; but Clarissa made me proud by standing strong and not giving up.  I’m not going to lie I at first wasn’t sure if she was right for Joker, that thought lasted 2 seconds before even just a few pages in I was shown that she was the light Joker needed to his dark.
I loved seeing old friends from other books play a role in Ride Steady, it felt like one big old reunion and for some authors I hate to say it doesn’t tend to work but Kristen Ashley knows how to make her readers feel as if we ourselves are a part of the family and are welcome to join in on the fun.  Ride Steady was written only as Kristen Ashley can write, beautifully with a dash of alpha badass and lessons to be learned.   I can’t personally wait for more of our Chaos men, the women who love them and the lessons we will learn.  Congrats Kristen Ashley on yet another amazing book!

Promo Tour: Stop! By Alison G. Bailey

Every life has a different path full of sharp turns, smooth curves, and steep drop offs.

Hollis Murphy has a plan—college, career, boyfriend, love, marriage, family. A predictable, normal life. She’s on track until an outside force causes her to crash and burn. They call it an accident, because that’s the only word they know to explain what happens to her. It helps everyone move on with their lives, except for Hollis. She holds on to the belief that she’s been targeted for a reason.

Risher Stevenson is intelligent, caring, sweet, and the hottest boy Hollis has ever laid eyes on. He fits perfectly into her original plan for a normal life. Everyone loves him.

Benton Daniels is intelligent, caring, sweet, and the bravest boy Hollis has ever met. He doesn’t fit into her life but gives it purpose and makes it extraordinary. Everyone hates him.

One is bullied. One is tormented. All are judged. How will it STOP?

There is one thing that I have learned, that when I read a book by Ms. Bailey that I damn well better have boxes of tissues nearby because I already know that whatever she writes will be so emotional that an ugly cry will commence but it will also be beautiful.  Stop! didn’t disappoint and I needed those tissues more than once.
Without giving anything away Stop! is still on my mind days after reading it and I have a feeling it will be on my mind for a long while to come.  Stop!will have your heart breaking, your stomach in knots from the angst and twists, it will drain your emotions and have you in tears, it will leave you in such a mess that you wish Stop! would just stop.  If you are looking for a light happy read then Stop! is not for you, but if you are looking for a tear inducing, heart breaking, emotionally charged story then Stop! needs to be on your TBR lists immediately.  Awe damn I need the tissues again, so with that I will just say that its all those reasons why when I pick up a book from this author and even know that I will cry it will end up staying with me for a long time to come.
“Name?” she said, impatiently.
I was so flustered that for a second I’d forgotten who I was. “Hollis Murphy.”
She scribbled something on a spreadsheet and handed me a packet with my name and the number two hundred ten typed out on the front sticker, which I assumed was my room number.
In a flat bored voice, she said, “Everything you need to know is in the packet. Should you have any additional questions or needs after reading the information, please ask your RA. Have a productive semester. Next!”
Clutching the envelope to my chest, my gaze shifted back down, and I walked quickly out of the office.
As I turned the corner, a loud deep woot! jerked my attention down the hall. I took one step before crashing full force into something solid and warm. Stumbling back, I dropped the envelope. Once my balance returned, my eyes focused on a gray T-shirt with cut off sleeves, stretched across broad shoulders. When I glanced down in search of my envelope, I couldn’t help but spot the narrow hips and round ass covered in black basketball shorts. As I squatted to pick up the envelope, a tanned forearm came into view. My gaze roamed up to find the arm was covered in bulging muscles.
“Oh god, I’m so . . . sor…ry,” I stammered, my cheeks heating with embarrassment.
“Here ya go,” a deep voice said.
Reaching for the envelope, my gaze inadvertently shot up to the warmest green eyes ever created. His dark brown hair was cut short on the sides, longer on top, and tousled. The perfect amount of scuff peppered his strong jawline, with deep dimples framing a sexy lopsided smile. The air was immediately sucked from my lungs. He wasn’t just hot, he was boy band hot.
A deep chuckle drifted down before I realized he had stood up and was extending his hand to me.
Oh boy! I get to touch him.
I slipped my hand into his and felt an immediate jolt of electricity. The muscles in his arm twitched. He felt it too.
“Thank you,” I said, as he helped me up.
            “I’m Risher Stevenson.”
He was actually introducing himself to me.
It had become a habit not to look directly at anyone, especially a stranger. I automatically angled my head down and to the left, to hide the messed-up side of my face. But those green eyes locked me in place.
            “Hollis Murphy.”
“Nice to meet you Hollis Murphy.”
“Sorry again about running into you. I need to do a better job at watching where I’m going.”
The tip of his tongue slipped between his lips before they formed into a slight smirk. Just as he was about to speak, his name came barreling down the hallway.
“Rish! Get your ass down here. We’ve got a ton of boxes to haul in.” A blond-haired guy was standing at the end of the hall.
“I gotta go finish helping my friends move in.”
            I nodded.
Risher took three steps before turning back toward me. “Don’t do too good of a job.”
My eyebrows squished together in confusion.
“At watching where you’re going. I hate to think I won’t get rump bumped again.”
He winked before jogging away.
I Sasquatched those shoulders, those hips, and that ass all the way down the hall.

Review: Flagger By Laramie Briscoe

Fast Cars
Broken homes
Vulnerable hearts

Cash Montgomery likes fast cars, fast women, and living his life only as far as he can see with his own two eyes. There are very few people in his life who he answers to. One of them being his little brother Remington (Remy).

When Cash and Remy are forced to make a life-changing decision they no longer have a place to live, no idea where their next meal is going to come from, or any prospects as to how they will make it. They need help.

That help comes in the form of the Heaven Hill MC and Harper Stillwell.

Harper Stillwell comes with her own set of problems, but when she and Cash Montgomery meet, sparks fly.

None of them know what they’re doing, where they will end up, or how they’ll get there. The only thing they know is that the race for their lives is only beginning—the flag is waving—and they have to hang on for the ride.

While Flagger is a separate trilogy from the Heaven Hill MC series and it can be read as a standalone; I recommend that you take the time to read the other series if not first then shortly afterwards because there is a cross over that may make you understand who is who a little bit better.  That being said, it is only my personal suggestion.  I have read the entire Heaven Hill series so far so I knew who certain people were prior to beginning Flagger.  Let’s get down to business now shall we?
Flagger is the first book in the Red Bird Trail trilogy and what a way to start!  I lately have had a thing about racing books, oh hell let’s be honest here I love to race in real life and while I may have settled down some since I had kids I still love the thrill of driving fast, knowing that you are in control of how fast you can go.  Cash Montgomery is oh so sexy, he knows he is a badass on the track and let’s face it he’s just a badass period because of how he takes care of his little brother Remy.  I would love to be in the seat next to him during a race, or even afterward, that Harper is a lucky girl.  Harper has her own issues that she is dealing with but her and Cash connect in more than a sexual way, it is almost like the fates conspired for these two to be what not only saves the other but to show what real love is.
Laramie Briscoe is an author that I started reading by chance but continue to read because I know I will get a great book out of her; one that will have me going back for seconds, thirds, fourths, oh hell will have me going back to read whatever it is she plans to write because she has cemented me as a fan for life.  Like I said you don’t have to read the Heaven Hill series first, but if you want a little more background on the characters and get some glimpses of Cash himself in those books I think you will see why I keep coming back for more.

Blog Tour: Wild Pitch By Sloan Johnson

There’s never been any question in Sean Tucker’s mind that he’d do whatever it took to make it to the major leagues and be one of the best pitchers of his time. The day he acknowledged to himself that he was gay was also the day he vowed to stay in the closet in order to chase his dreams. The problem is, he never counted on Mason Atley.

Sean showed rookie short stop Mason Atley the ropes, both on the field and off. The two forged a friendship which continued as both of them moved through the ranks of the farm system and into the majors. Unfortunately, there’s always been one secret Mason never felt he could share with Sean. Until now.

For seven years, Sean lived with the fact that he loved a man who would never reciprocate. When Mason admits that he’s always known he’s bisexual but has never allowed himself to pursue a relationship with a man, will Sean be able to put aside his reservations about starting a relationship with the friend he’d always assumed was straight? And more importantly, will they be able to find a way to stay together when their careers keep them apart more than they can be together?

It’s been a while since I have read a Sloan Johnson book, so when I saw that she was writing a M/M book that was about baseball players I was pretty excited and wanted to get my hands on it as soon as I could.  So of course when the opportunity arouse to sign up to review it I jumped right on board.  Wild Pitch is the first book in the Homeruns series and let me tell you this one was a homerun in itself.  From the start I didn’t want to put it down, and I didn’t until the very end.  Luckily the kids were taken care of so I don’t feel much guilt about that, oh alright I feel zero guilt, sue me this book was hot!
Sean and Mason have been friends for years, even though they play on separate teams they have stayed close throughout the years and even their own teams know that these two are best friends.  Sean has known he is gay all of his life, even if he is still in the closet it doesn’t mean that he hasn’t had relationships, he has.  Mason is in the middle of a divorce but unknown to Sean, he is Bi and has had a crush on Sean for a while now, but unlike Sean Mason has never been with a man.  So when the truth comes out and Sean and Mason decide to try to have a relationship it still isn’t easy and sadly Sean is who makes it hard.  I can understand his fears, hell if it were me I would be worried about not just losing my best friend but having my heart ripped to shreds too.  Mason has some hard decisions to make, not just about his relationship with Sean, his divorce with his ice queen bitch of an ex but about what he wants to do about his career.  I am gonna warn you now, this is one sexy hot read so make sure you have spare panties nearby because Mason and Sean will make the ones you have on very wet when you read some of the sex scenes.

I am hoping that the next book releases soon, don’t worry this one is about a different couple so there are no cliffhangers in this one.  If you are a M/M fan like I am then make sure you check out Wild Pitch by Sloan Johnson, I think you will love to read about these guys playing with their bats and balls (yes I went there did you really expect me not to?) as much as I did.

“Are you saying what I think you are?” I asked, my mind still holding me back from pushing him back on the couch to give him what he seemed to be begging for. My fingers tangled through his hair, holding him so his face was barely an inch away from mine. I feared that, if I let go, the trance would be broken and I’d never know what it felt to press my body against his.
“Yeah, I think I am.” Throwing caution to the wind, I placed my hands on his shoulders and shoved him back. His wavy hair felt like silk under my fingers as I plundered his mouth with a crushing kiss. He moaned as his hips bucked against mine, just as desperate for release as I felt. A surge of connection jolted through my body, from my mouth all the way down to my cock, urging me to claim him. There’d be time for regrets later, but if this was what Mason wanted, I would be the one to give it to him.
My cock begged to be freed from the confines of my jeans, pleaded with my hands to reach between our bodies and pull his sweats over his hips, but I couldn’t. Just like my performance earlier in the day, I allowed someone else to weasel his way into my mind and I choked.
“Mace, we can’t do this,” I said with more than a trace of resignation behind the words. “I don’t want you doing something with me because you think it’ll take my mind off what happened earlier. You deserve better than that. If you’re really interested in guys, that’s awesome, but I can’t be your guinea pig. You mean too much to me for me to lose you when you decide you want to go back to women. I wouldn’t be able to stand being pushed aside because your tastes change.”
Mason’s face contorted as if he’d eaten something sour. “Dude, you make it sound like it’s a banquet dinner and I’m going to decide I picked the wrong entrée! Why can’t life be a buffet? If I’m in the mood for a steak, I’ll have the steak. If I want the salmon, I’ll grab a piece of that. Life’s short, and I’ll be damned if I’m going to get to St. Peter and regret never trying steak. Unfortunately for me, the only cut I’m interested in is you.”
“See, that’s exactly what I’m talking about,” I countered. “Let’s keep going with your ridiculous analogy, because you seem to focus better when we’re talking about food… what happens when you try the steak, only to decide that you can’t stand it? What if you realize that what you thought was steak was closer to a nasty fast-food burger? I don’t want to take that chance.”
About the Author:
Sloan Johnson is a big city girl trapped in a country girl’s life. While she longs for the hustle and bustle of New York City or Las Vegas, she hasn’t yet figured out how to sit on the deck with her morning coffee, watching the deer and wild turkeys in the fields while surrounded by concrete and glass.
When she was three, her parents received their first call from the principal asking them to pick her up from school. Apparently, if you aren’t enrolled, you can’t attend classes, even in Kindergarten. The next week, she was in preschool and started plotting her first story soon after.
Later in life, her parents needed to do something to help their socially awkward, uncoordinated child come out of her shell and figured there was no better place than a bar on Wednesday nights. It’s a good thing they did because this is where she found her love of reading and writing. Who needs socialization when you can sit alone in your bedroom with a good book?
Now, Sloan is a tattooed mom with a mohawk and two kids. She’s been kicked out of the PTA in two school districts and is no longer asked to help with fundraisers because she’s been known to lose herself with a good book and forget she has somewhere to be.

If you are looking from a change of pace from your ordinary shifter books then Raber Wolf Pack is one that you need to add to your TBR list immediately.  I am a huge paranormal fan and I especially love a good shifter book, and this one was a great start to the series.  Add to the shifter aspect is a little bit of magic and it just gave it that little bit extra something I have been looking for.  This is a pretty quick read that kept me turning one page after another until I reached the very end.  It is fast paced, it is sexy it has action, alphas, it has shifters and it has magic.

I hope that Ryan Michele plans to release the next book soon so I can see what will happen next to not just this alpha pair but the entire pack.  If a certain female shifter happens to get a swirly in the toilet for being a nasty bitch well then that would be the icing on the cake for me.  If you like shifters and paranormal books give this one a try I think you will enjoy it as much as I did.

“Wow what a completely different shifter book. I loved every second of it.” ~ Goodreads Reviewer

“I love me some sexy wolves, especially when the story is as fresh and unique as Ryan Michele’s Raber Wolf Pack.” ~ Goodreads Reviewer

“Can you say holy hell balls of hotness? Raber Wolf Pack: Book One was an absolutely amazing read! If you are looking for one hot, sexy as hell Alpha look no further than Michele’s Xavier.” ~ Goodreads Reviewer

Ryan Michele has a huge obsession with reading, which only came to life after her best friend said she had to read Twilight. After reading that series, her entire world changed in the blink of an eye. Not only was she sucked into new worlds and all of the wonderful words authors put down on paper, she felt the urge to begin to write down the characters that played inside of her head. In doing so, Safe was born. When she’s not reading or writing, she spends time taking care of her two children and her husband, enjoying the outdoors and laying in the sun.

Review Tour: Snow Boy (X-Treme Boys Series #5) by Kay Manis

Title: Snow Boy
Series: X-Treme Boys #5
Author: Kay Manis
Genre: Sports Romance

Geneva Barton was a bitch—until the threat of criminal charges forced her to confront the demons from her past. Two years later she’s worked hard to overcome her vindictive ways. Everyone has given her a second chance. But does she deserve it?
Maybe a gorgeous stranger on a tropical island, 4,000 miles from home will help her find out.
After suffering heart-breaking loss, Berk Rigby has left his career as a professional snowboarder and returned to his native island home in Kauai, Hawaii. The last thing he deserves is absolution. But when a beautiful guest at his family’s resort forces him to confront his past, he’s suddenly thinking about a future again. A future with her. But does he deserve it?
A chance encounter.
A leap of faith.
A vacation that will last a lifetime.

Hawaii. Warm sand beneath your feet. Waves crashing on the shore. Paradise to many. For Berk, Hawaii is his temporary home, his solace in a time of pain. A place to hide from his past.
For Geneva, Hawaii is just a vacation spot to celebrate a friend’s nuptials. Seven days of sun, sand, family and friends. A family that has grown to mean so much to her.

Both Berk and Geneva have painfully dark pasts they’d like to forget. They both hide their demons from each other. With Geneva’s days on the island numbered, they figure their union will be nothing more than a quick romp. But among the heat and the lust, real feelings develop, on both their parts. And as Geneva’s departure date looms nearer, the urgency to spend time together grips them stronger. Then Berk’s past catches up with his present. An unexpected, and somewhat unwelcome, visitor arrives on the island disrupting the connection between Berk and Geneva. And quite possibly severing it completely.
Snow Boy was a lot of fun! Kay Manis has a creative use of words that had me laughing at some points, then the next moment things got so steamy my glasses could have fogged up. I have to point out we do meet Geneva prior to this book. And well, I never thought that I would ever root for her, but I did! For me, Geneva has been completely redeemed. She tries so hard to separate herself from who she was and the damage she did. Her family has forgiven her past wrongs and loves her tremendously. Now it’s up to her to forgive herself.

Berk, sweet, hot, damaged Berk, made my heart hurt for him. Three years have passed since his world changed. We still don’t know his full story, but we know enough. He’s secluded himself from the world. Once a pro snow boarder, he now works at his family’s resort. He doesn’t speak about the circumstances that brought him there to anyone. His family knows and they’ve all allowed him the time to heal. But it took an unknowing, sassy blonde to reach the parts of him that he thought were sealed for good.
My gosh! When Berk and Geneva come together it’s nothing short of smoking hotness. Those two in bed…or in a shower…or on a surfboard…or…or…or…yeah…s-i-z-z-l-e! Crank the AC up when you dive into this one. Sadly though, all good things must come to an end. And seriously the ending Kay Manis left us with opened a pit in my stomach and had my heart in my throat. I cannot wait for Geneva and Berk’s conclusion in My Snow Boy.

Kay Manis lives in Austin, Texas with her husband, daughter and five pound Chihuahua affectionately named “Tiny.” When not writing or researching you’ll find Kay reading a good book, eating out with friends or napping.

Kay’s biggest goal in writing is to amuse, inspire and entertain. If she’s done that for you then she says she’ll always consider herself a success.
