Release Blitz: Bo By Rie Warren

From the world of Carolina Bad Boys . . . Bo Maverick is ex-Force Recon and a force to be reckoned with.

Bo:

I’m a lover, not a fighter. Yeah, right. Talk about bullshit. I’ve been fighting all my life, and I know zip about love. Frankly, I don’t want to. More than bullets whizzing past my head or the very real possibility of ending up dead, love scares the shit out of me. I’m used to guns and killing, blood and dust.

Lust.

That’s what I feel for this woman, my goddamn shrink, Veronica. Doctor Hartley digs inside my head. She asks me questions, which I never answer. I’d much rather take the smart, sexy Doc to bed, but I can’t because of our clinical relationship.

My last Force Recon mission destroyed any semblance of humanity I had left. Those little triggers go off all the time now. When I’m asleep. When I’m awake. When the memories are raw. I bolt up, at knife point again, but there’s no enemy now.

Just Veronica and me.

Veronica:

Veronica. Doctor Hartley. I told Bo to call me Ronnie like everyone else, but he refuses. He shows up like he has a cattle prod shoved up his ass and sits through the allotted hour for his counseling session impervious to every approach. He’s powerful, forceful, explosive. He doesn’t scare me.

My marine doesn’t speak, but his sharp gaze pierces me all the same. He watches me with all the greed of a hunger never sated, a need never fulfilled. A desire never explored. He stows his secrets safely away, but I’m patient. I’ll get to him if he doesn’t get to me first.

And when I have him? I’ll want him forever. I know this. But I can’t. His past might be complicated, but mine is a minefield, one that will blow up in our faces before all is said and done.

Too bad. We could be so good together.

Warning: Graphic sex, graphic action, graphic language. Triple X caution.
After my disappointment with the previous book, I was wondering if Bo would redeem this series in my eyes or not.  Now don’t get me wrong I liked Kincaid but I didn’t love it so to say I was being careful when I began to read Bo would be an understatement.
I knew that Bo would be suffering from PTSD and that would mold him into who he was so I wasn’t surprised at the emotions I felt for him and for what he had gone through.  I just didn’t know that his book would not only have my heart breaking for him but also renewed my love of this series and author.  I loved Veronica, I loved Bo, I loved the sexual tension and I loved that I was drawn into this book right from the start.  I won’t go into detail so I don’t give any spoilers away but just be prepared to feel so many emotions for Bo, both good and at times bad, but know you will feel period.
I really want Cole’s book asap because he’s another that I am getting anxious about reading about and knowing.  If you are like me and wasn’t sure about Bo, give it a shot anyways because it made me want to continue on and read more about these men.

HOSTED BY:

Blog Tour: The Fear That Divides Us By: M.N. Forgy

Road Captain of the Devil’s Dust Motorcycle Club, Bobby has the scars to prove just how dangerous his life is. He gives the world he knows hell and loves every moment of it. Wearing a panty-dropping grin along the way, his fierce life has never been a problem for him, until her. Jessica is the only female who has him distracted in his game. After taking him to bed, she’s the only woman to tell him to take a hike. Waking with her gone, he can’t resist her pull. He’s seen the marks on her body, ones which tell the horrors she’s lived through. He’s also seen the fear in her eyes when she lets herself become weak to his advances. Bobby has a decision to make. Can he help Jessica, or will it mean giving up his carefree life?

Jessica, also known as Doc, lives life in fear. Years back, she ran to the Devil’s Dust for protection, seeking the demise of her abusive, dominant husband. Her mind and soul tortured by her past, she can’t allow herself to move forward. The only thing in her sight is her daughter’s safety. Even if she has the attention of one particular tattooed biker, she can’t succumb to his charm and drag her daughter back into a world of danger, no matter how much he thinks he can save her.

Mistakes will be made.

Fears will be faced.

Pain will be remembered.

Can Bobby and Jessica survive the dangers they bring upon themselves?

I didn’t know if M.N. Forgy could top what she wrote previously with the previous novels in this series but she did.  I have loved Bobby since we are first introduced to him and you know that he has it bad for Jessica but there is something that is causing them to not be together.  I was not expecting that Jessica went through as much hell in her past as she did.  I had to put my kindle down from time to time, not because I wasn’t into what I was reading but because I would tear up and just want Jessica to find happiness and see that Bobby would die to protect her.  Hell he would kill to keep her safe.  Now don’t take that as he is whipped or a wimp because if you have read this series and I hope you have, you know he is as tough as they come.  I never thought anyone would top my love for Shadow when it comes to this series but right now Bobby may actually become my number one Devil’s Dust hot ass biker.

Seriously each book in the Devil’s Dust series has gotten better and better with more emotions and more holy shit moments.  The Fear That Divides Us is an example of that even when you are at your lowest that sometimes it isn’t an angel that will have your back but someone who may to everyone else look like a devil but is a savior instead.  I love this series and I can’t hope to read not only more of Bobby and Jessica’s story but the whole Devil’s Dust crew as well.

Sale Blitz: A Life Less Broken By: Margaret McHeyzer

On a day like any other, Allyn Sommers went off to work, not knowing that her life was about to be irrevocably and horrifically altered.

Three years later, Allyn is still a prisoner in her own home held captive by harrowing fear. Broken and damaged, Allyn seeks help from someone that fate brought her.

Dr. Dominic Shriver is a psychiatrist who’s drawn to difficult cases. He must push past his own personal battles to help Allyn fight her monsters and nightmares.

Is Dr. Shriver the answer to her healing?

Can Allyn overcome the broken?

Contains distressing content. Only suitable for 18+. Standalone.

A Life Less Brokenis an extremely hard book emotionally to read.  This is not a book to read if you have any type of rape trigger, please if this is a topic that you know that you don’t like to read about then skip this one.  Just please take what I just wrote to heart.
God, what do I even say about this book?  From the start you know how horribly that Allyn suffered at the hands of her attackers.  I had tears in my eyes when I read what happened to her and then when you see how she hasn’t been able to cope just makes it all so much harder.  I had to step away from this book multiple times because of what I was reading.
When she meets Dominic, her new doctor you start to see that maybe, just maybe she can begin to live again. Slowly ever so slowly Allyn begins to battle the fears that have caused her life to just be at a standstill since her attack.  Feelings between the two begin to move past doctor/patient and that is when I started to not like the book as much.  It’s not because of their relationship but because it went from doctor treating patient to bam something else without a second thought to what would be at risk for him.
Then all of a sudden thing just go from bad to worse for Allyn, I won’t say what it is because I don’t want to give anything away but for me, that would have been my oh hell no breaking point.  It almost became over the top with the drama surrounding the truth.

I liked A Life Less Broken but I can’t say that I loved it.  I love dark reads, rape in a book is not an issue for me, but this one just didn’t sit right with me for some reason.  I have had 50/50 luck with this author so maybe it is a case of we just don’t mesh well together or maybe it was the book itself but if you take anything from this review, please keep the warning I posted at the beginning of my review in mind if you do give it a chance.  This is one read that will stay with me for a while and not in a good way but one that will make me wish that nothing like this ever happens to any woman, ever.

**Bound by custom or unique by choice.**

There’s something about the written word that’s pure magic.

Possibly it’s the fact that there are 26 letters in the English alphabet, and they can create something so beautiful or so empowering that they’re able to change our lives.

How important is it that we break suit and stretch our minds?

I like to think of myself as ‘unique’. My stories aren’t for everyone, and sometimes I may push what you believe to be ‘normal’.

Normal is subjective.

I prefer to be known as a person who’s never been ‘bound by custom’ but is ‘unique by choice’.

Until next time

Blog Tour and Giveaway: Beautifully Awake by Riley Mackenzie

Lili Porter hates the rain. Bad things happen in the rain. As a small town social worker dedicated to protecting children, she is forced to start over to escape her rural disaster. Determined to follow her father’s advice—head up and chin high—Lili finds herself in a new city, taking on a new system, this time healthcare. In doing so, she gets something she never expected, an intimate behind-the-scenes look at life in the hospital.

Lili learns that a surgeon’s hands have the power to heal more than physical wounds. And a prescription for truth can cure three years of sleep running and leave you beautifully awake.

Excerpt :

He was already dressed for the OR in his scrubs, looking … amazing. The beat beneath my chest started again and my mouth watered, as I not so subtly roamed his body with my hungry eyes. All I wanted was to feel his body against mine, get lost in where I ended and he began. It was all I’d ever want. Forever. I finally got what he meant every time he said mine. He was mine.

“See something you like?” He smirked.
“Mm-hmm.”
“Baby, if you don’t stop looking at me like that I’m never gonna get out of here.”

“Truth. Sounds perfect to me.” Now I smirked.

“Ahh fuck, you’re killing me. You know scrubs don’t hide a hard-on very well.”

I laughed. He had a point there.
Leaning down, he kissed my nose. “Text you in a bit, see how your day is going…”

“K.”

So was this my life? I sunk back into the fluffy pillows and sighed. I wanted this to be my morning every morning.

My Review:

Lili survived a hell that no woman should ever have to suffer, even though she survived she was living through life awake but asleep.  She would go through the motions but never letting herself fully heal from her past.  That is until she meets Dr. Chase Colton.  He not only makes her feel more than just love, this man at first could piss her off like no other.  He wakes her up and helps her heal the wounds that are still not closed.  Lili isn’t the only one living life awake but asleep, Chase has his own past that has left him wounded as well.

Dr. Chase Colton can operate on me any time.  He is a walking ad for the sexiest man alive, cocky, a damn good neurosurgeon obviously since he is the Chief of the department, but there is more to him than anyone knows.  He keeps a part of himself away from Lili, when he finally opens up and tells her everything it breaks you up inside because you can feel his pain.  There is just something about him that pulled me to his character more than Lili, maybe it’s just him overall.  He is a messed up prince charming in scrubs.

These two are both broken souls, but it takes the love and connection they have with each other for them both to begin healing.  What they share isn’t just perfect, it is beautiful.  When something happens that could take all of that away from them, I for one was on the edge of my seat saying no, please no.  Do not do this to them, they deserve to be happy they both have suffered enough.

Beautifully Awake is a book about love healing deep wounds, redemption and a connection that is stronger than anything that could break them apart.  Be prepared for an emotional read and have your tissues close by because at times you will need them.  I am still sitting here feeling all the emotions I felt while reading Beautifully Awake, this is one that will stay with me for a long time.  The authors have made me want more of this series with just one book, I for one cannot wait for the next book to get here fast enough.

About the Authors

Yep. That’s an “s.” There are two of us!

We’re East coast girls separated by Long Island Sound who met in Physician Assistant School and have been besties ever since. We can safely say that thirteen miles of water does not get in the way because we talk or text, no exaggeration, at least 150 times a day. No, really, we do—about everything and nothing. Shockingly, we never (we mean never) run out of things to say. Umm, ever. We definitely laugh A LOT and we’re a tad sarcastic. And if we’re being totally honest, one or two people might have, on occasion, used our names and ‘dramatic’ in the same sentence. But it’s hard to trust the sources since they married us.

It only took twelve years, two husbands, five kids, two dogs, and a two-week vacation in Cape Cod later to decide the romance world needed a splash of medicine. Write what you know.

So you can easily find us at 4 o’clock on Bank Street beach with a glass of cold Prosecco brainstorming. And guaranteed if we bump into you, literally, it’s only because our iPhones are glued to our hands (totally out of our control) either writing or editing our next novel (and yes, it is possible to do from your iPhone, we mastered it … damn those straight quotations).

When we are not working on our book or reading the latest angsty romance on our kindles, you basically name it and we have it going on. Soccer, lacrosse, golf, swimming, dance, gymnastics, football, chess, baseball, basketball, skiing, ice skating, school, homework, and more school.

Oh yeah, did we forget to mention our careers in medicine?

Needless to say, we realized fast that something had to go, so we opted for sleep. It’s completely overrated (yet so AMAZING) and delirium makes everything funnier. Good thing we share a brain and can pretty much complete each other’s sentences (definitely weird, we know), otherwise it might have taken us two years to write Beautifully Awake rather than one.

So that’s our story, who we are … just add AUTHORS to the list!

Review: Running to You by DeLaine Roberts

Running to You is the story of pharmaceutical rep Alexandra Morrison and Dr. Grayson Brooks. The attraction between them is immediate and explosive. Alexandra and Grayson are instantly attracted to each other. But their relationship is taboo. She’s signed a morals clause and if her relationship with Grayson gets out it could cost her everything.
Things never go as planned. After receiving a terrible shock, Alexandra suffers a stroke. Instead of leaning on Grayson, like she should, she pushes him away. Thus begins a vicious cycle. Grayson tries to help, Alexandra either pushes him away or runs away from him.
Finally, they work things out.  This is how their relationship goes:
Alexandra is crying.
Brooks: What’s wrong?
Alexandra: Nothing, I’m happy.
Brooks: I love you.
Alexandra: I love you too.
Rinse and Repeat.
It seems like every conversation/intimate moment ended with them fighting, Alexandra running or pushing Grayson away or Alexandra crying. Enter the conversation:
Brooks: What’s wrong?
Alexandra: Nothing, I’m happy.
Brooks: I love you.
Alexandra: I love you too.
I’m all for couple expressing their love for each other. I just felt like all they ever talked about in the second half of the book was I love you, I love you, I love you.

The ending felt like it came out of left field. There was one brief mention of Alexandra’s safety early in the book, then nothing. Then, BAM! Problem with her safety at the end. It didn’t seem to fit with the rest of the story.

Review: Strictly Business by Lisa Eugene

Strictly Business by Lisa Eugene is anything BUT Strictly Business!
Nina Henley has dedicated her life to her profession. She’s an ER doctor and damn good one. She up for promotion, she’s dedicated and she cares.
Then she meets Wade Connolly, a medical malpractice lawyer. He comes to the ER one night, needing medical care. There, he meets Nina. Things happen in the ER room that rivals Grey’s Anatomy!
Wade is investigating a case and before he knows it, Nina is involved. He’s attracted to her and he wants to protect her. Nina thinks he’s a womanizer who’s just using him.
I really liked this story. We had some suspense and a bit of mystery. The passion and attraction between Wade and Nina were hot. Nina and Wade are both lovable and come across as real people, not just story book characters. There was some doubt on the part of Nina, justifiably so, but it didn’t overpower the rest of the story.
I do wish we had gotten more of Wade’s inner workings. We got enough to know him but I would have liked a bit more from his standpoint.
At one point in the story I started to think the mystery of the case had been dropped off. Nothing was said about the case for a while, but we did eventually come back around to it. I was surprised at the outcome of the mystery. That was not one I was expecting.

Lisa Eugene is a new author to me, but I will be checking out her next boo Steal My Heart. This time around we have an OR nurse and an Ex-Navy SEAL. We all know I love a man in (or out of) uniform!
