Blog Tour: One Dom To Love By: Shayla Black, Jenna Jacob and Isabella LaPearl

OneDomToLoveCoverRaine Kendall has been in love with her boss, Macen Hammerman, for years. Determined to make the man notice that she’s a grown woman with desires and needs, she pours out her heart and offers her body to him—only to be crushingly rejected. But when his friend, very single, very sexy Liam O’Neill watches the other Dom refuse to act on his obvious feelings for Raine, he resolves to step in and do whatever it takes to help Hammer find happiness again, even rousing his friend’s possessive instincts by making the girl a proposition too tempting to refuse. But he never imagines that he’ll end up falling for her himself.

Hammer has buried his lust for Raine for years. After rescuing the budding runaway from an alley behind his exclusive BDSM Dungeon, he has come to covet the pretty submissive. But tragedy has taught him that he can never be what she needs. So he watches over her while struggling to keep his distance. Liam’s crafty plan blindsides Hammer, especially when he sees how determined his friend is to possess Raine for his own. Hammer isn’t ready to give the lovely submissive over to any other Dom, but can he heal from his past and fight for her? Or will he lose Raine if she truly gives herself—heart, body, and soul—to Liam?

When I picked up One Dom To Love I was really excited to begin reading it, the authors are some of my favorites because I know that they will leave me reaching for my husband and praying that the kids are asleep.  So when I started reading it, I was in a way disappointed by the end.  It’s not that it is poorly written, boring or just blah.  I had an issue with Raine one that I thought I could overcome but couldn’t by the end of the book.  (Mind you this is the first book in the series so I may come to like her in the next book, it is something that I will have to wait and see.)  She was so extremely bratty and while I normally love reading about a submissive who has sass and knows how to use it, Raine at times acts like a toddler throwing a temper tantrum.  She wants to be Hammer’s but she doesn’t have the slightest idea on how to even be submissive and then when a punishment sadly gets to an extreme she ends up with Liam.
Liam is Hammerr’s best friend and is also a Dom, he was trying to get Hammer to finally open his eyes up about Raine and his feelings but what he does just in a way goes against everything I have ever been taught in this lifestyle.  Yes, he had good reasoning behind why and I totally get that but the way he reacts after finding out his scheme may have in one way worked but then quickly backfired not only hurt him but Raine and Hammer as well.

Was One Dom To Love a good read overall, yes it was.  Was it at times extremely sexy?  Yes.  Was it at time angsty because of Raine and Hammer?  Yes again.  So while I am not fall down in love with One Dom To Love, I did enjoy it.  Will I read the next book as well?  It’s already on my kindle waiting for me to have a break to read it.  I am interested in seeing where these three authors will take us on Raine, Liam and Hammer’s journey.

Blog Tour: Captured in Croatia by Christine Edwards

Christine Edwards is one of my new must buy authors. I’m completely loving her series!  She can’t write them fast enough for me. Captured in Croatia is just as compelling as the previous books in this series.
Carew is not your typical heroine. She’s tough, trained, and deadly. The only problem is she met her match in Zoran. She’s also lucky that Zoran took an interest in her or she would have been dead. Instead she ends up prisoner of the very sexy, very hot Zoran.
The chemistry between Zoran and Carew is HOT! I was loving every minute of it. But this is not just an erotic story about a man and woman. There’s some danger, intrigue and suspense. Christine Edwards wove a story that had me on the edge of seat. I couldn’t wait to see what happened. How would they get out of trouble? How would they fine their HEA? Would they find their HEA?

I’m eagerly waiting on the next book from Christine Edwards! I’m ready for it!

Review: Origin by Dani Worth

Science Fiction is so much fun. There are so many wonderful things you can do with it. You can have aliens that are built differently, have differing abilities, differing philosophies, and you can build these whimsical, fantastic worlds.
Dani Worth has definitely done that with her series, Kithran Regenesis. The fourth book in this wonderful series comes out April 8 and I was fortunate enough to get my greedy little hands on a copy before it came out!
Ms. Worth continues to give us a wonderful world where people are free to love anyone they choose and however many people they choose. I love that! There’s no judgment in their world. It’s all about doing what makes you and the ones you love happy.
In Origin, we get to find out what happens to Claybourne and Anders. These are two people we met in the earlier books. I love that we find out what happens to them. We get their story. In addition we find another Gwinarian. Another one is coming home to Kithra!
But it’s more than that. We get a little closer to finding out why and how Kithra was destroyed all those years ago. We also get to watch Siri get her freedom and blossom under the love and passion she shares with Claybourne and Anders.
Siri has suffered for the past 14 years. She’s been held prisoner, abused, beaten, raped, tortured, you name it, it’s happened to her. Claybourne and Anders find her when they raid the pleasure ship she’s been held on. They take her with them and teach her to trust, to love, and to feel passion.
Ms. Worth did an amazing job of showing how Siri grew out of her shell and became her own person. How she found her backbone after all those years of abuse. Yes, I know it would normally take years and counseling, but this is fiction. It’s Science Fiction and Siri is a Gwinarian. Go with it. I did and it’s worth it!
We get some seriously hot smexy sex in this story. We get M/M, M/F and of course we get some good ol’ MMF. It’s all in there. But it’s not just about Siri finding her backbone and learning to love, it’s about Claybourne and Anders learning to forgive each other, love each other and move on. They find out how short life is and make that move.

We meet some people in this one. I’m hoping their stories will be coming soon. I can’t wait to get more of this wonderful world Ms. Worth has built!

Review: All Of Me by K.E. Osborn

All of Me is the final book in the Trust Me? Trilogy. I was so excited about this book. I couldn’t wait to find out what happens to Jeni and Aiden. I was dancing in my living room when I finally got my copy of it. YAY!
All of Me picks up right where Love Me? leaves off. Jeni has survived a brutal attack by her ex. She’s feeling pressured from Aiden and his dad. It’s awful for her. So, she did the only thing she felt she could do. She left Aiden.
We start off right where you think we would. Aiden is depressed and missing Jeni. Jeni is depressed, missing Aiden and suffering from PTSD. After a few weeks, she picks herself up and goes to work for her mom. From there things fall apart.
We were so on track with this story. I was into, I was hooked and then I felt like we took a left turn. After weeks of depression, and her family talking to her, consoling her, trying to help her, it only takes a single conversation with a nurse she met in the hospital for everything to become clear to her. This is the only contact she’s ever had with this person outside of the hospital. Why did it all of the sudden click with her.
From there it felt like one convenient thing after another happened to make the story happen. I was so disappointed. It felt contrived in places.
Now, there were some awesomely funny things that happened in this story, most of them involving Sarah and Chris. Let’s just say I’ll never look at a maid or a sailor the same way again!
We also had some wonderfully romantic moments. The flowers on Monday. The proposal (two of them). The wedding. It was wonderful.

I do recommend this series. It’s a wonderful love story.

Review: Forever with You by Laurelin Paige

What a ride! Forever with You brought the roller coaster of the Fixed Series to an end. And oh how I enjoyed every single hill, dip, valley and curve thrown my way!
Alayna and Hudson continue to be a enigmatic couple surrounded by their very own soap opera cast. Each person on the outside of their relationship influences and impacts, not just Alayna and Hudson as individuals, but as a couple. Some of them have positive impacts and some are poisonous. So, normally you would get of the toxic people. But what if some of the toxic people are your family? What then?
Alayna really grew as a person. She learned to take charge of her addiction instead of letting her addiction take charge of her. She tried so hard for Hudson. She tried to be better. And she did amazing.
Hudson was frustrating at times. While he did try to be better for Alayna, he wasn’t very forthcoming with information. He also continued to be a master manipulator.
Now, both of them ended up being enablers. They enabled each other to continue with their personality flaws. While it may have seemed like accepting, it was actually enabling.
Celia isn’t out of the picture. She continues to be problematic for Hudson and Alayna. But, I did like the comeuppance she got. I was cheering and pumping my fist in the air!
It took a lot of tears and heartbreak to finally get their HEA. But it was a sweet HEA! They fought so hard for it and they deserved it. They went through so much together and came out the other side together. While I should have known what Hudson was hiding (I knew one part, but not both), it was perfect for this trilogy. It couldn’t have been any other way!
I absolutely loved the Epilogue. It made the whole book for me. The Epilogue tells what happened after they got their HEA. We like to think that once the engagement happens or they get back together, all is right and good in the world. But that’s not always the case. In this Epilogue we see how Hudson and Alayna had to fight to get the rest of their HEA. We also get to see how they will continue to fight for themselves and each other, because it’s worth it!

Review: Back to the Garden by Selena Kitt

Selena Kitt is obviously a God when it comes to writing smut… Especially smut revolving around incest. She just has such a unique way of turning a taboo situation that may be disturbing for some in the real world, and making the stories work in a way that not only turns you on but has you longing for more.

This book is a collection of four short stories all revolving around incest- I’m all for this type of thing when I’m in the mood for a steamy read and was pleasantly surprised with the mother/son stories featured in this book- That was definitely new for me, since I was used to reading either brother/sister or father/daughter related incestuous stories. Each short story featured in this book was not only entertaining but also well written and had the perfect balance of plot, characters and of course steamy sex. …Although this wasn’t my favorite Selena Kitt book, it was definitely a prime example of why she’s still one of today’s top-selling authors of erotica fiction.

★ PS: If stories revolving around incest isn’t your thing, then for the love of God stay as far away from this novel as possible.

Review: Contractual Obligation by Tymber Dalton

Contractual Obligation is another great story by Tymber Dalton.
Harper is CEO of the family company. Her dad has warned her, get a personal life or he’ll take the company back over from her. So, Harper decides to get a personal life, on her terms! She hires a new Executive Assistant that’s young, hot and single. As part of his job, he’s to act like her boyfriend.
Meanwhile, Doug is in love with Tate. But Doug’s parents are about to lose their home. So, he takes Harper’s job and leaves Tate. When Harper finds out about Tate, she send Doug off to England and hires Tate. She’s determined to right the wrong she inadvertently made.
However, Tate has other plans. And he pulls Doug in with him.
This was a great story. It was easy going, not much angst and of course we got our HEA!
Of course, as with other Tymber Dalton books, we got some very steamy M/M action, some MMF action and some good old-fashioned spanking! Doug is a take-charge kind of guy and he’s determined to take care of Tate and Harper.
One of the things I really liked about this story was the interaction between the guys and Harper. Harper is a self-confident, strong, independent CEO. She’s in charge of her company and she does it well. Doug and Tate take charge in the bedroom, but NEVER interfere with her business savvy. They leave the company to her and support her. They take care of her outside the boardroom. It was nice to have a woman who could take care of business and the men in her life didn’t interfere. They didn’t feel a need. They didn’t step in, they didn’t offer up unsolicited advice, they trusted her to do what she did best, run the company.
She, in turn, trusted them to take care of her outside the office. They did it exceptionally well!

Now, I’m off to find another Tymber Dalton book I haven’t read yet!

The Best of 2013: Part 2

With over 700 reviews posted in 2013, it’s safe to say the ladies of My Secret Romance Book Reviews read A LOT!  Asking us to choose our favorites for the year is like asking a mom to choose between her children.  We all love that many.  So, we broke it down as best as we could.  Earlier in the year we brought you the Best of 2013: Part 1.  Now as we say good-bye to 2013, we bring you Part 2.  Are any of your favorites on here?

Good by S. Walden
I honest to God can’t put into words how much I really and truly loved everything about this story- Everything. I commend the author S. Walden for not only blowing me away with her writing, but finally putting a book out there that gives all other books revolving around the “forbidden love” theme a run for their money.” ~Alyssa
“I don’t go fan girl crazy. Ever. It’s not in my bones to, but imma about to go stage 5 clinger crazy and get into my car and drive up to Georgia to find this author!  How the hell am I suppose to read anything after this???! You’ve ruined me, S. RUINED ME.~Taryn

Try by Ella Frank
Ella wrote a story that ensnared me with the way she portrayed a confident and arrogant bisexual man and a straight man to come together (pun intended) and just Try with one another. If you’ve never read a m/m story, this is a great start to this genre.” ~Amanda

Quintessentially Q by Pepper Winters
“Quintessentially Q is a dark, compelling story that consumed me. Pepper Winters took me on a heart wrenching, mind blowing, gut twisting journey; that by the end left me feeling spent but soaring high and free.” ~Nadine

Rowan’s Lady by Suzane Tisdale
This story pulled at my hearstrings and made me feel like I was falling in love again! I laughed, I cried, I sat on the edge of my seat waiting to see what would happen. We got to see some of our old friends from Clan MacDougall. I loved seeing them again. We also meet some new people that will hopefully be in future stories.” ~Lee Anne

His Ever After by Jessica Ingro
“I could not put this book down. I had been anxiously awaiting its release and let me tell you it did not meet my expectations; it surpassed it. Jessica Ingro nailed it with His Ever After. She knows how to pull your emotions and make you fall in love with characters you shouldn’t love, and make you want to read more and more about their story.” ~Janna

Encore by Shira Anthony
“This book touched a nerve in me I thought I had hidden in the bottom pit of my soul. Not only it’s supremely written and follows a timeline of 35 years impeccably, but Mrs. Anthony built these characters with such accuracy you will really believe she had witnessed the whole thing.” ~Sophie

Addicted To You by Krista & Becca Ritchie

“Krista and Becca Ritchie are the new voices of the Indie world- People need to watch out! Their words ring true as does their emotional story. It’s edgy, new and should not be missed! The plot, character development… it was such a breath of fresh air to read. I honestly loved it. I haven’t been this excited for a series in a long time.” ~Taryn

Review: Menage on 34th Street by Elise Logan and Emily Ryan-Davis

Menage on 34th Street is short and very powerful story.
Kat and Liam have been married for 10 years. Right before they got married their friend, Hunter, left for the Marines. 10 years ago he turned down an offer to be with them. Now he’s back and Liam and Kat want Hunter in their lives.
Liam and Kat obviously have a strong relationship. It’s open and they communicate well. But things come to a head when Kat finds out something Liam kept from her 10 years ago.
Hunter throws a whole new mix into things. Not just because he’s going to be the third in the relationship, but he’s a Marine. A career Marine. It’s everything to him. Being in this unconventional relationship could jeopardize everything.
This story has some amazing smexy scenes. Limits are pushed, boundaries are tested and they get down and dirty. We get all combinations possible in this story with the three of them. There’s not any stone left unturned.
But on top of the hot smexy scenes we have some emotional turmoil. One of the things I really liked about this story was Elise Logan and Emily Ryan-Davis’ ability to put so much into such a short story. Not only did she pack a lot into this story she dealt with the very difficult problems that come when adding a another person into a relationship. It’s not just adjusting to each other when there are three involved, it’s adding in the stigma of a non-traditional relationship. We also have the added stress of Hunter being a Marine. That throws a whole new set of variables to be dealt with.
Elise dealt with these problems very matter of factly in the story. There wasn’t any glossing over of potential problems. While we are left with a happy ending it’s not necessarily a HEA. However, I’m more than happy with the HFN we have.

I’m so intrigued with this trio that I’m really hoping we get another story about Liam, Kat and Hunter.

Review: Holidays with the Walker Brothers by Nicole Edwards

Mmmmmm…..Those Walker boys sure are HAWT! And you gotta love the women that love them.
In Holidays with the Walker Brothers we get to see all the couples again. It’s like visiting old friends and catching up. With each one we get to experience that rush of attraction and feeling of love they all have for each other.
In addition, several stories were advanced. We got more insight into the budding relationships and the stories to come. All it did was whet my appetite for more! In fact, it makes me want Ethan’s story even more.
And of course, we get to hang out with the couple that started it all, Lorrie and Curtis. I can only hope when I’m their age, my hubby and I are still in love like they are!
The story wouldn’t be complete with razzing, jokes and poking fun at each other. Each of the Walker boys brings something special to Christmas and it’s a joy to spend the holiday with them.
Now, even though Zane, Kaleb, and Travis are all in committed relationships, their relationships with their significant others are still HAWT! In fact, they can barely sit through Thanksgiving dinner without scorching glances, innuendo, and disappearing at the first chance they can. The scenes with them are OMG! HOT!!

This is a wonderful interlude between the Walker brothers’ stories. While I’m thrilled I got to spend the holidays with the Walkers, it only made me want more!
