Review: Facing Fire (Bad Boys Undercover #3) by Helenkay Dimon

Be still my Strike Back ever loving heart! Seriously, fans of the former Cinemax show, Strike Back, will love love love this series. It’s full of gun-toting action, suspense, intrigue, hot-steamy sex scenes…the whole shebang, people!
Josiah King is an operative with the Alliance–a covert, black ops team dealing with bad guys in unconventional ways. The Alliance has an old enemy hunting them down, and he’s making it personal. We open with a brutal scene involving Josiah’s uncle. And Josiah and the team are forced to watch it unfold, helpless to stop it. Fueled by vengeance and determined to protect their own, the Alliance is relentless in their pursuit of this enemy.
Sutton Dahl is on a mission of her own. A private investigator from the U.S. is hunting the streets of Paris for the man who’s behind her mother’s death. However, thinking him a mere con-artist, she has no idea the danger she has truly put herself in. Sutton and the Alliance are after the same man.
Sutton’s digging around puts her on the Alliance’s radar, and in Josiah’s direct path. He thinks she’s working with the enemy, and she has no idea how much she can trust him with. Her snooping around however, has not gone unnoticed by their mutual enemy. And her life is in danger.
From start to finish, I was on edge with this book. The action is amazing and pretty much non-stop. Bullets fly. Bombs explode. Hostages are taken. Ms. Dimon does not hold back. And thus being true to the story she unfolds for us, not everyone walks away. The characters, every single one of them, fight for survival. The enemy is a ruthless, vile monster set on destroying them. And I ate up every word.
Oh and those steamy sex scenes I talked about. Yeah, the kind where you’re so damned attracted to someone and you don’t want to be, but your heart says “screw you” and takes the reigns, it’s like that. Hot, explosive, consuming and terrifying for Sutton and Josiah. Both of them are out of their element in this situation. And neither know if it’s the adrenaline driving them or if they have an actual shot at something more once the dust settles. But before they can decide that, they have to survive.
I highly recommend this read. 5 explosive stars from me.

I couldn’t resist giving you a visual of my Josiah (AKA Philip Winchester)

Review: Adjournment (Fate Series #1) By Emersyn Vallis

When Sidney Chandler chooses to leave home she walks away from her life as she knows it… her family…

She stepped back, allowing them all to heal… move on… live without her…

Now at the age of twenty nine and almost a decade behind her, she is a master of disguise. Long gone is the timid girl who lived blinded by the ideas of love.

Until fate decides to intervene and the one man she has struggled to evade at all costs is pushed back into her life. He knows the real girl behind the façade, only he can pull her out of her self-imposed exile… breathing life back into her cold, protected heart.
Fate will do what fate wants and Sidney’s choices are no longer her own… but were they ever really hers to begin with?

Adjournment starts off slowly, I almost put it down because it took me a little while to really get into it but once I did I couldn’t put it down.  Be prepared to go on an emotional rollercoaster ride.  One minute you will be laughing, the next you will wish you could heal past hurts.  There is the perfect balance of everything I love about a book, there was hilarity, angst, a bit of mystery, and of course steamy sex.  That balance is hard to make perfect but the author nailed it.  Simon and Sydney may be the main characters but even the secondary characters have a presence in the book that takes it up a notch.

I am very impressed that this is the author’s first book, it usually takes an author a while before they find the correct formula to paint the picture of the story where the reader is able to easily picture it in their mind.  Emersyn Vallis has impressed me with not just her writing style, but also with her ability to write a story that hooks you and leaves you wanting more.  I think that people won’t be disappointed if they pick up Adjournment, just remember give it a chance, once it gets it’s hooks into you don’t plan on doing anything else but reading until you finish because you will not want to stop for even a minute.

Review: Crave The Night (Midnight Breed #12) by Lara Adrian

Buying myself a Lara Adrian book is a given. I honestly just automatically set my purchase months ahead whenever it becomes available cause I KNOW I will read anything she writes. I saw the title of this book for the first time around February and thought: This is DEFINETELY one hell of a good story; it sounds like a movie title. A very SEXY and HARDCORE movie. Now, knowing in reality it’s a Midnight Breed novel, I immediately realize it’s waaaaaayyy beyond a good story. I wasn’t wrong.

It’s an EPIC story.

With that being said, Nathan and Jordana have enough fuel to set the whole city of Boston on fire. I dare to say this is one of the best breed couples ever written. It’s nearly impossible not to fall in love with both.

So, let’s go back in time a bit, and  if you recall, Nathan is the (genetically created) son of Corinne Bishop, who we met back in Deeper than Midnight, and back then Nathan was a 13 yr old boy, who was born and raised to be a Hunter. Fast forward 20 + years and he now is the second in command of the Boston squad, and very much in charge of his team. Nothing makes him lose focus; he’s been extremely well trained, prepared and set to get rid of rogues, and he doesn’t hesitate for a split second to pull the trigger if needed to. This particular mission against a high profile club owner has gotten Nathan’s full attention and it appears to be everything is going according to plan. He’s determined to complete this mission and fight ANYTHING that might get in his way. He’s determined to not let ANYTHING get in his way this time.

Anything, except Jordana Gates.

Nathan has known Jordana for a while since she’s the best friend of Carys Chase (from who I am SURE we will see more in the nearby future). If you also recall, back in Edge of Dawn, they shared a brief encounter that shattered Nathan’s self control. That was only the beginning of what would be a high octane love story with enough adrenaline to last you a lifetime. Seriously.

Jordana on the other hand is a very important Breedmate, raised in an upscale Breed environment in the city of Boston. She has an ‘almost formal’ I would say, relationship, with a high profile Breed male (whom you can tell she doesn’t really love, mind you), she has her dream job, a loving father, everything she’s ever asked for. Her world is calm and delicate, until Nathan appears in her life like a storm lifting her off the ground and swirling her. Their love is nothing less than an avalanche full of emotions and action. Nathan is as lethal as Jordana is pure fire; and what neither one of them knows is that she is the key to a whole new mystery building within the Breed nation (Remember: Mrs. Adrian KNOWS her alphas and Nathan is by far one of the best one’s she’s written about. There is not one thing u cant love about Nathan, not one flaw). Jordana on the other hand will become the key to a hidden world that the Breed must fight against; and their love story will be the beginning of a new mission that only the Order can complete.

Every single chapter in this book will captivate you. Every love scene will melt you a little. Every kiss shared by Nathan and Jordana will increase your heartbeat. Every action scene will drag you into this phenomenal love story only Mrs. Adrian can deliver in such a MAJESTIC way.
