Review: Make Me (Broke and Beautiful #3) by Tessa Bailey

“Day one hundred and forty-two of being friend-zoned. Send rations.”
Make Me had my attention from the first two lines. I was sold! Please go on, tell me more.
Russell is a sweetheart. My heart hurt for the guy. He’s in love with Abby. Completely and hopelessly in love. But he has never made a move. She has no clue how he feels about her. He has exiled himself into the self-proposed friend-zone. All because he doesn’t think he deserves her. He has this idea in his head that she’s too good for him. She comes from money. Works in the high-paced corporate world. She deserves more than a construction worker. What could he offer her? Oh dear sweet Russell, you’re not giving Abby enough credit.
Yeah she’s rich. Works in her family’s firm. But Abby is so down to earth and just wants to be accepted. Growing up, she was a bit of an outsider, alone. Even now, as an adult, she’s still ostracized at work. Being the boss’s daughter has that effect. Lately, she’s worked herself into exhaustion, not confiding in anyone the pressures that have been recently placed on her. She finally has a group of people that adore her, including Russell. But she’s very naïve when it comes to men and is blind to what’s been right in front of her.
After a close call to her safety, the two friends have a sort of awakening. Russell sets out to make himself worthy of her. And Abby finally sees him in a different light.
This was such a great read and a complete flip on roles. For once we have the rich girl and the not-so-rich guy. But when it comes to matters of the heart, money does not matter. The only one who had an issue with their financial differences was Russell. He has his reasons though. There was a pivotal point in his life that made him the way he is. He wants desperately to be the guy Abby deserves, not realizing until it’s almost too late that he always was that guy.
Make Me was sweet, sexy, and fun. It’s about two friends who are more than just that and learn to trust in themselves and each other to cross that line.

Blog Tour: Up In Smoke By Tessa Bailey

Never start a fire you can’t control…

Connor Bannon is supposed to be dead. Dishonorably discharged from the Navy SEALs, he’s spent the last two years working as a street enforcer in Brooklyn for his cousin’s crime ring. Through a twist of fate, he’s now in Chicago, working undercover to bust criminals. But when a cute little arsonist joins the team-all combat boots, tiny jean shorts, and hot-pink hair-Connor’s notorious iron control slips.

Erin “she’s getting away” O’Dea knows two things. She hates authority. And… Nope, that’s it. When she’s forced to operate on the “right” side of the law, her fear of being confined and controlled blazes to the surface. The last thing she expects is a control freak like Connor to soothe her when she needs it most. Worse, something behind the sexy ex-soldier’s eyes ignites a dangerous inferno of desire. One that invites Erin to play with fire. And one that could get them both killed…

Barnes & Noble:
As if her thoughts had made him appear, Connor strode into the courthouse. Her pulse started beating double time, her stomach muscles tightening. Good Lord, the man was a fucking panty dropper. She’d only been away from him for a few hours and it felt like years since she’d experienced his presence. In jeans and a fitted gray T-shirt that molded to his muscles like her hands itched to do, he personified confidence and authority. Hot, rugged male. His gaze connected with hers immediately and darkened. She thought back to that morning when he’d dressed in the early morning light, his abs flexing as he pulled the shirt over his head. His erection barely contained by his boxers. She’d never been one to beg for anything, but she’d been seconds from offering him her mouth. Pleading for the privilege of sucking him off.
Conner shook his head at her with a sexy half smile on his face, as if he could read her thoughts across the room. He stopped at the metal detector and walked through after the security guard beckoned him forward. When the woman grabbed her wand and instructed him to raise his hands in the air, something ugly reared its head deep inside her. The detector hadn’t even beeped. There was no reason for the personal service. When the woman smiled at Connor and ran a hand down her ponytail, Erin propelled herself forward, boots echoing on the polished marble.
Erin hissed as she drew even with the guard. “If you’re done feeling up my boyfriend, I’d love a turn. We were in a rush this morning.”
The guard dropped the wand, letting it dangle near her thigh. “Did you just hiss at me?”
Erin hissed again.
“Okay.” Connor stepped between them, winking down at her. “We should go. Don’t want to keep the clerk waiting.”
Appreciation spread in her belly like honey. He hadn’t chided her for her behavior or apologized to the woman on her behalf. Instead he’d given the impression they were on their way to get married, appeasing her jealousy in one fell swoop. “That’s right.” She sauntered toward the elevator. “There’s vows to be exchanged. Rings to put on fingers. Shit like that.”
She glanced behind her to find Connor staring at her ass as she walked, so she put a little swing in her hips and savored his groan. Damn. She’d definitely never had this much fun at a courthouse.
A moment later, she and Connor stepped into an empty elevator. She hit the button for the top floor even though the clerk was on the first, and leaned back against the wall, looking up at him through her eyelashes. “How was your morning, baby? Was it worth leaving me in bed, all hot and bothered for you?”
“Fuck no, it wasn’t.” He crooked a big finger at her. “Climb on up here.”

Thank you for your interest in my books! I’m Tessa and I live in the crazy, loud, overcrowded borough of Brooklyn, New York. I love it here. This city is a constant source of inspiration, which is why I’ve decided to set my most recent books in the Line of Duty Series here.
I moved to New York when I was eighteen, the day after I graduated high school. Threw my suitcase in the back of a Chevrolet Cavalier and drove across the country to find my adventure. I’m still finding it, little by little.Thank you for being a part of it.

Review: Officer Off Limits by Tessa Bailey

Officer Off Limits is the story of Story and Daniel. Story has flown 3,000 miles to be with her father as he recovers from a heart attack. She’s recently broken up with her fiancé and she’s now met Daniel. Daniel is a hostage negotiator and Story’s dad’s co-worker.  He’s definitely off-limits. He’s a playboy and player. Just what she needs.
The story starts off hot and the tension keeps building. Daniel is broken, or so he thinks, and oh so hot and loveable. Story is sweet and finding her own way. She’s learning how to stand on her own two feet again.
While I loved the story and enjoyed it, I had a bit of a hard time connecting with the characters. They were both loveable and I enjoyed them, the connection just wasn’t there for me.

I have not read the first two in this series yet. There was no need to have read them either. This story definitely stood on it’s own.

Review: Protecting What’s His by Tessa Bailey

I’m sorry, but what was so great about this book again? Oh yeah… Nothing. I was bored throughout the entire novel and quite honestly, I found absolutely no point to the story-line what-so-ever. It was your typical cheesy romance novel featuring a heroine too scared to have a relationship due to mommy issues and a hero who thinks he’s the baddest of the bad because he’s a cop. Be right back…

I mean, can we get a little creativity please? …Oh, and just a little. FYI: You will literally read about the hero’s hard-on every thirteen seconds.

The heroine smiles? He gets a hard on.
The heroine gets jealous? He gets a hard on.
The heroine blinks? He gets a hard on.

I mean for the love of God… The man was literally a walking commercial for Viagra. Aside from that, he was just too much of a hard-ass for my taste and I really didn’t feel like he had any special qualities that made him one-of-kind, aside from a dirty mouth. As for the heroine Ginger, she was your typical smart-mouthed heroine- My favorite type to read about… Not. Oh, and of course every guy who had ever laid eyes on her thought she was the world’s most beautiful woman. I just… I can’t.

She supposedly had a heart-breaking back story but since the book lacked major character development and depth, none of those details were really elaborated on.

Also, when it came to the romance between Derek and Ginger I just didn’t buy it. I felt like the entire relationship was based on sex and physical attraction. These two characters had never even went on an actual date, yet I was supposed to buy that they were in love? It just wasn’t happening.

Over-all, I just don’t really have that much to say about this book. The story and characters both lacked depth… The writing was good, although very predictable… And the plot left a lot to be desired. If that’s the type of book that floats your boat then by all means, don’t miss out on this story. Unfortunately for me though, this book just ended up being a meh read because once again I fell victim to all of the misleading high ratings and reviews.

Blog Tour & Giveaway: Protecting What’s His by Tessa Bailey

Ginger Peet has been taking care of her younger sister, Wila, and they need a fresh start away from their mother and the life she lives. When Ginger comes across $50,000 she doesn’t think twice about taking the money and getting her and Wila out of a bad situation and begin that fresh start they have been needing. So she grabs her Dolly Parton statute and gets the hell out of Nashville and heads straight to Chicago. Only with her luck, does she move in across from a hot and moody Chicago homicide lieutenant.

Derek Tyler is a hot and sexy problem that Ginger just doesn’t need. Derek knows something is up with his sexy new neighbor and her younger sister and he plans to find out what. He wants Ginger in his life and wants more than just one night. He needs to get her to trust him so that he can protect her and Wila from what ever it is they are running from.

Derek was H.O.T. hot and he knew it too. He had his sights set on Ginger and was going to have her. I love alpha males like that! It’s just plain old sexy to me that when a hot guy knows what he wants and sets out to get it. Ginger was a spit fire but just wanted to protect her younger sister from the life their mother lived. She gave up on her own personal life to protect Wila. Wila, well what can I say about her besides she is a gothic dressing smart ass who I absolutely loved! She was the perfect balance to Ginger’s personality and when she finally lets herself open up, I was cheering her on.

I loved this book! It is funny and sexy and a great start to a new series in my opinion. Tessa Bailey has started a new must read series! I will be looking forward to more books in this series in the future.

Tessa is giving away one ecop of PROTECTING WHAT’S HIS to one lucky reader. To be entered in the giveaway, please leave a comment for Tessa and your email so a winner can be contacted. Thanks and good luck!!
