Review: Uncaged by Harper Sloan

You have to have read the rest of the Corps Security series before reading this one, it is NOT a standalone but a continuation of Cage’s story.  Please take the time to read the first 3 books in the series before reading Uncaged.

Greg Cage’s life is more fulfilling than he ever could have imagined. He’s married to the love of his life, has an amazing son, and in a few short months, his family will grow again with the birth of his twin girls.

The past year has been a tough one for the Cage family, but they are now on the road to healing by learning to let go of the past and looking forward to their future.

When situations beyond his control threaten to take away so much of what Greg holds close to his heart, he has to learn that he doesn’t always have the control he tries to maintain in their lives. Will he be able to handle the stress of knowing his wife and newborn daughters are beyond his protection?

Join the Cage family as they embark on yet another one of life’s journeys with a rambunctious four-year-old, pregnancy complications, and the fear of the unknown.

Will the love that Greg and Melissa share hold true as they fight to overcome the obstacles that face them?

The continuation of Cage and Melissa’s story is one that I felt so much emotion with that a box of tissues was a constant by my side.  We see how their relationship has progressed, with the birth of their twins on the horizon.  We see how Cohen is still his adorable heart stealing self.  You can see the strength of the bond that Cage and Melissa share in not only their marriage but the way they are raising Cohen.

You feel the excitement that the couple is feeling with the upcoming birth of the twins.  Even Cohen is super excited about the upcoming arrival of his sisters, it is so sweet.  They need this bit of happiness after the past painful year for the crew.

Just when you think everything will be a happy ending like they deserve, something so upsetting happens that you will ball your eyes out.  Now I cried big ugly tears when I had read Beck, I cried ugly tears when I read Uncaged as well.   When I wrote my review for Beck I cried remembering the reason and once again I am crying now writing this review of Uncaged.  I will not spoil it and tell you what happens because to feel the true emotion of this book, you have to read it.  Unless you are a cold hearted person who has no emotions this book will bring forth strong feelings.  I can promise you that you will need tissues.  I can promise you that you will not take for granted the ones you love always being by your side, that you will cherish each moment you have with them.

Harper Sloan has truly won me over with this series.  From the beginning with Axel’s story, to the continuation of Cage’s and the future books in this series she has me hooked wanting to read more of the men Corp’s Security and see all of their stories unfold.  Please if you are a fan of this series, make sure that you read this one because Cage, Melissa and especially Cohen will pull at your heart and leave their mark.

Review: Perfectly Broken by Prescott Lane

Peyton has survived a traumatic experience.  One that has not only scarred her physically but mentally as well.  She keeps herself covered in baggy clothes, she doesn’t date, and doesn’t trust easily.  She works in her pie shop and tries to get through each day without triggering the nightmare to replay in her mind.  When playboy Reed comes into her shop her life begins to turn itself upside down.  She doesn’t want to let Reed into her life or heart, but slowly he works his way in, not taking no for an answer.  Reed has his own demons and scars from his past that he doesn’t want Peyton to find out.  These two need to learn to trust each other so that they can heal the scars and begin to live.
I liked Peyton’s character even though at times I wanted to just shake her and plead with her to snap out of her self-imposed prison.  I understand why she is like this, but I have a problem with how she allowed her best friend at times to just push her around and dictate her life.  Ok I hated the best friend, she is a bitch one that needs to learn real quick that the world does not revolve around her ass.  I honestly felt bad for her boyfriend, I think she took his balls the second they began dating.
Reed, he is your typical rich playboy.  Not wanting to commit, and if one of his hook ups started to want more, he showed her to the door.  But with Peyton he is different.  He knows that he has to take things one step at a time with her.  He knows that he needs to get her to trust him before she will share her secrets with him, but yet he keeps his own personal secrets from her at the same time.
Then there is the jealous ex who feels that she needs to stick her nose into their business, cause come on let’s face it the ex always has to try to stir the pot of shit and make trouble.  And this ex, she’s a first class bitch to put it mildly.

I am not going to sugar coat how I feel about this book.  At times I wanted to not finish it, to just erase it off of my Kindle and move on to the next book.  I liked the book but sadly at times it was so annoying that I just cannot love it.  Now, I am not saying not to read it, I would never do that, but if you do read it be prepared for immature, bossy best friends, bitch ex’s, secrets, and total lack of communication at times and a female who would rather hide in her own self-pity than try to heal and become a stronger person because she is a survivor for a majority of the book.

Review: Underestimated by Jettie Woodruff

I have found a new love. It’s dark reads. For some reason, dark reads are appealing to me and I’m loving them. Underestimated by Jettie Woodruff is one of those reads.
I found myself drawn into a world that is unbelievably dark and twisted. It was horrifying, it was sick and it was intriguing. If it was so horrifying, why was I drawn into it?
Jettie Woodruff’s writing drew me in to this story about a girl from a small town. She’s literally sold by her father to an asshole of a man. Well…I hesitate to call him a man, I’ll just call him a male person. And that’s being kind. I was hooked. This was an amazing story that held me from the first sentence to the very last.
Morgan’s plight pulled at my heart. I so wanted her to gain her footing and find herself. I wanted her to learn what it meant to be loved and cherished. She fought the entire way. She did what she had to. Unfortunately because of the way she was treated by her husband, she didn’t truly learn how to value herself. It took her getting away and finding a real man in order to learn that.
Morgan finally got away from Drew, her husband, and met Dawson. Dawson is a real man. He knows how to treat a woman and he loves with his whole heart. He showed Morgan how to beat back her demons, how to love and how to be normal.
Life has a way of throwing us curve balls and Morgan finds herself right back where she started. With Drew. Only this time, she’s not putting up with him. She’s taking a stand. But when she finally remembers everything, will she choose Drew or Dawson?
I truly despised Drew. Even at the end, I felt he had no redeeming qualities. He’s an ass, he’s manipulative and he’s sick and twisted. Now, don’t get me wrong. We should all go for what makes us happy and live life the way we want, as long as it doesn’t hurt others. Drew hurt Morgan. He cause irreparable damage to her. He forever altered the way she looked at sex and love and not necessarily in a good way.
Dawson was the perfect gentleman. He loved Morgan and gave her what she needed when she was recovering. However, because of Drew, that was never enough. I felt so bad for Dawson. He deserved to be loved unconditionally and passionately. Morgan just wasn’t that person. Drew made sure of that.
While I’m not happy with the ending, I understand it. Things happen. People make choices we don’t agree with, it’s their life and they have to live it the way they want.

I have definite plans to read Underestimated Too. I have to get inside Drew’s head and see what the hell he was thinking. His reasons for doing this to Morgan are horrible. He’s a true asshole! I have to see what he was thinking.

Blog Tour & Giveaway: End of the Innocence by Alessandra Torre

end of the innocense

He thought I owned him. He thought he loved me, that I was enough. But this animal, this sex god who could drive me crazy and steal my heart in the same breath, he would never be fully mine. It was impossible. No one ever owns a God.
…I looked at Brad, his legs spread, still fully dressed, settled into a chair, his bare cock upright and fisted, his palm slowly stroking its length…
End-of-the-Innocence_kindleSo the time has come for us to say arrivederci to Brad and Julia. Their relationship is one that I’ll treasure forever. Their connection is unforgettable, desirable and I just GOTthem. Brad and Julia are one of the most honest and straight forward couple I’ve read. There’s no mind games or hidden agendas between them. What you see is what you get. They helped each other evolve with past relationships, become more secure within themselves though there is that small vulnerability that they each have but it doesn’t outshine what they grew into; which is a love that is powerful, strong and highly sexual.
If you haven’t read the previous books, I highly recommend you do so you can see how they grew and how they continue to grow with the extended epilogue and bonus chapter(which are on her website). There are some sex scenes (Birthday sex…THUD) that literally left me breathless and put a huge smile on my face. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the threesome scenes. Even though others come into play during their sex, you still see the connection with Brad and Julia. GAH! There are really no words for them. I can not express enough my love for them.
What else can I say that I haven’t already said before in my previous reviews about the author? Alessandra’s writes her stories that are engaging, smooth flowing and erotic. She will be an author that as soon as I hear her story is released, I will drop what I’m doing and get to reading her work.
* I could have written a 20 paragraph review but seriously…ain’t nobody got time for that! Go to your favorite website provider and purchase the book. I promise you will not be disappointed*

Author Bio:

I am a mommy of two, wife to an amazing man, and full time employee. Life is crazy and busy!  I started writing again for a group of women I met last year. They brought back the passion for writing I haven’t seen since high school. Starting this process was tedious and nerve-wracking, but my amazing ladies and my fabulous husband have inspired me to take my love for writing to the next step.

Excerpt:

I wanted her here with me.  Please, come back to me, Sabrina.
Bre and I were connected.  Our souls were one.  We were both fucked up and broken, but together we made each other whole again.
I couldn’t stay away, I sat on the side of the bed, took her hand mine, and started stroking my thumb over her knuckles again.  I wish I could hold her in my arms, pull her into me, and place a deep kiss on her tender lips.  I wanted to feel her heart beat on my chest as I held her close to me, snuggled safe in our bed.
The door swung open, bringing me out of my thoughts.  Jon walked in carrying food and a change of clothes.  He set a stack of paperwork down on the windowsill and turned toward me.
“Caston, you need to go home, get some rest.  You can’t live by her side.  The doctors aren’t sure when, or if, she will wake up.”
My head snapped up, and I stared him down.  “Are you fucking kidding me right now?  Can you honestly tell me that if this was Sara you’d leave her alone like this?  Do you know she moved today?”
His eyes widened, and he moved closer to her bed.  “I know, buddy, but maybe you just thought she did.  I mean they said that muscles twitch and shit when people are in comas.”

Blog Tour & Character Interview: Tied With Me (With Me in Seattle #6) by Kristen Proby

A man whose lifestyle is so different from her own…
Nic Dalton’s cupcake bakery is thriving. She serves both rock stars and locals alike, content with her growing business. But one adventurous night out with her best friend, Bailey, turns her life upside down. She meets a handsome stranger who makes her skin sizzle and her heart race. Their one night together is explosive and unexpected, but when he has to suddenly leave without taking her phone number, Nic resigns herself to never seeing him again.
…What will it take to trust and submit to his every desire?
Matt Montgomery is one of Seattle’s finest. He works hard, loves and protects his family fiercely, and is loyal almost to a fault.
And he has a penchant for bondage.
Matt enjoys the way a woman looks wrapped up in his ropes, and makes no apologies for his preferences. When he meets Nic at a fetish festival, the small, beautiful woman catches his eye, drawing him to her. His one night with her was everything he’s ever looked for in a partner, but is cut short because of a family emergency. Even before he sees her again weeks later, he knows he’ll never get her out of his system.
And he’ll do whatever it takes to make her his.

“Give in to this, Nic. Let me prove to you that I will be one of the best decisions you ever make.” –Matt Montgomery

Character Interview
Nadine here! I am beyond excited. I’m happily awaiting Nic Dalton, the heroine from Kristen Proby’s latest installment in the With Me in Seattle series, Tied With Me. Oh I see her now!
Hi Nic! Thank you so much for meeting me at Vintage. I know your Sundays are usually Bailey time, so I promise to be quick.
Thanks for inviting me! It’s a pleasure to meet you.
Tied With Me is yours and Matt’s story. This was a spicy read. I loved how you were open to trying something so out of your norm. What made you go for it? What was it about that first encounter with Matt at the festival that compelled you to let him demonstrate his ropes?
The man is sexy as all get-out for starters. But more than that there’s something about him that just makes me WANT to please him, to do as he asks. It’s really difficult to explain.
The end of your first night of passion with him, while satisfying, didn’t exactly end well. I mean the guy ran out on you without so much as getting your number. Did you ever expect to see him again? What was the first thought that entered your mind when you saw Matt at Brynna’s wedding?
No, I never expected to run into Matt again. When I first saw him at the wedding, I think my first thought was, “holy shit!”
I love how he calls you little one. I swear when he called you on the phone after the wedding and said it, chills ran down my arms. Do you have a special nickname for him?
Isn’t he sweet? Hmm… I don’t really have a specific nickname for Matt. Well, not one that he’ll let me share.
You’ve been immersed in Matt’s brand of kink for a while now. That man certainly makes use of some interesting tying implements. Which has been your favorite? Anything new we haven’t seen?
Let me think… favorite… Well, it’s always fun when he uses the apron. There are all kinds of uses for that! Not long ago he made use of my favorite scarf. I think I’ll be “cold” more often.
So, what’s next for you guys? Are you ready for him to pop the big question yet or does that make you nervous?
It’s still pretty early for us. I’m content knowing that we’re committed to each other and plan to be together for a very, very long time.
Alright, alright that’s it for the tough questions. Thank you so much for meeting me here. Before I go though, just one more question. You had Adam-freaking-Levine in your cupcake shop. How in the hell did you not kidnap that man and stow him away upstairs? *sigh* Seriously, though what was that encounter like?
Most of us were pretty much speechless during  that encounter. But Adam’s soooo nice, and just as good looking in person as he is on TV. Now that Leo Nash? He’s in almost daily, and I must admit, I have a bit of a crush on that one. Hello, hot rock star. *winks*
Yeah who wouldn’t have a crush on hot rocker Leo Nash?! Again, thank you, Nic, for taking the time to meet me today.

Blog Tour & Giveaway: Passion and Ponies by Tara Sivec

Ava Gilmore has the perfect life. She’s surrounded by people who love her, she’s having sex on a regular basis and her Coach bag collection just grew by three. The problem? She’s expected to follow in her family’s footsteps at Seduction and Snacks, working with sex toys and baked goods.

Ava loves vibrators and cupcakes as much as the next person, she’d just rather play with them than sell them. With her shopping addiction reaching an all time high and her credit card bills piling up, Ava decides to put her obsession to good use and start a fashion blog. But she has one other problem – the guy she’s having sex with has a My Little Pony addiction.

While dealing with her family’s disappointment and confusion over her choices, she finds support in the unlikeliest of places – Tyler Branson. Tyler has slowly wormed his way into her bed, her a$$ and her heart and he refuses to leave. Tyler has his own family problems to deal with and for the first time ever, Ava finds herself feeling bad for the annoying, immature guy and chanting “Friendship is magic!” during the sex she’d swore to stop having with him.

Ava needs to get her life in order once and for all before she finds herself doing something she never wanted to do – fall in love with a Brony.

Ava and Tyler.  These two are so different from each other it’s not even funny.  Ava is the fashionista, Tyler is a Brony with an unnatural knowledge of sex toys.  Ava hates working for her mother’s company.  She wants to run her fashion blog.  Tyler has no real direction, he is a Brony and loves kinky sex.  Ava can be such a bitch.  Tyler just wants to have more sex with Ava.   Ava puts up with Tyler even though he annoys her, Tyler well he just wants Ava.  These two may be polar opposites but they are the best thing to happen to each other, they support each other, even when it’s hard for the other person to understand why they are like that.  Don’t question it, they are just weirdly perfect for each other.  You can’t help who you love.

The rest of the gang from the Chocolate Lovers and Chocoholics series play huge parts in Passion and Ponies.  OMG I swear I think Claire, Carter, Liz, Jim Jenny, Drew, Gavin and Charlotte have gotten even funnier and crazier.  I loved how they all still mess with each other and are still one big dysfunctional family.  There are some OMFG moments and some that are like I so should have called that a while ago moments as well!

I learned real quick while reading this book not to eat or drink. Not. One. Thing. Or it would end up all over my Kindle because just when I thought it was safe, I would read something so fucking hilarious that I would either spit out what I was drinking (and no damn it I am not a quitter lol) or choke because I couldn’t breathe from laughing my ass off.  I almost peed my pants, I had tears in my eyes from laughing so hard.  I could not contain the laughter and giggles that Passion and Ponies caused.  I woke my husband up so much the night I was reading with my laughing I think he was one more laugh away from driving me to Tara Sivec’s house, dropping me off, and telling her you deal with her damn it.  Do you get my point?  This book is funny as shit!

I have a whole new view on My Little Ponies.  I played with them when I was little, I am sure if I looked around my parent’s basement that I would find some and if I did I would proudly display them damn it cause Friendship IS Magic!

I wish I could type the perfect review for this book but I can’t.  I just keep laughing and it’s making it impossible to type.  All I can say is get off your asses, and go read this book now damn it cause we all need a little magic in our lives in the form of My Little Ponies and all they represent.  Ms. Sivec you are one hilarious raunchy genius and I bow down to the queen of funny.

Blog Tour: Fighting to Survive by Ashley Piscitelli

Shawn Matthews has been hiding something from his friends, he is secretive and won’t talk about what has him running off and returning beat up sometimes.  His friends aren’t sure what to think, but when his secret comes out it all begins to make sense.
Christen has had a crush on Shawn since she first met him.  He hasn’t noticed her though, well not until she and her friends are the ones who discovered his secret.  Once she catches his eye, will they be able to move past how different their backgrounds are, or will their relationship be fighting to survive?
Shawn has been keeping a secret from all of his friends.  He doesn’t want them to know where he disappears to.  He knows once they find out they are going to offer help and he doesn’t want that.  He doesn’t like what he has to do but he can’t deny that he isn’t good at it either.  When Christen, Madison and Nicole discover his secret he didn’t think he know they wouldn’t keep their mouths shut.  He also didn’t plan on noticing Christen, the girl that has hung around them since Carter and Madison have gotten together.  Once he does though, he can’t help but want her.
Christen comes from a wealthy background, but she doesn’t throw it in your face.  She’s been Carter’s little sister Holly’s friend for years.  Since she first meets Shawn she has had a crush on him that has only gotten stronger as time goes on.  She falls hard for Shawn.
These two have great chemistry and get along great, well that is until people stick their noses where they don’t belong.  My stomach actually felt nauseated when I read what Shawn does to Christen.  While I can see why he does what he does at the same time I was like why are you letting them do this to you and her?  He does earn back my love though, doing what he does best so I can forgive his momentary douche bag status.
Of course things for Madison and Carter and Nicole and Jason aren’t all sunshine and roses either.  Nicole and Jason are still trying to work through what they have learned.  Madison and Carter still have the threat of Chris hanging over their heads.
Fighting to Survive is the final book in the Guarded Hearts series.  I really enjoyed this book.  My only issue was that it seemed a little rushed and could have been longer to close up some lose ends but overall it is a good read and a great ending to this series and the beginning of another.  Ashley Piscitelli had won me over with the first book in this series, Playing With Fire, but sealed my loyalty with Fighting To Survive.

Excerpt:

He spins around, and before I know it, he has backed me against the wall. He slams his hands on either side of my head, trapping my hands with them, and then crushes his mouth to mine. I let out a gasp of surprise and he takes advantage, slipping his tongue into my mouth. His kiss is so frenzied and urgent, so full of need. It’s unlike anything I have ever experienced in my life. I’m not innocent—I’ve been kissed by plenty of guys—but never like this.
He’s taking complete control over me and dominating every sense of my being. He pulls back a little, biting down on my lower lip, causing me to moan with a mix of pleasure and pain. I open my eyes to see him staring at me with such desire that my insides warm. Before I know what’s happening, he releases my hands and speeds out the door.

I stand there, pressed against the wall, panting from the most soul shattering and mind-altering kiss I have ever experienced. When I finally catch my breath, I smooth out my hair and clothes, and then make my way back to the crowd. Shawn Matthews is the kind of guy that my dad had warned me to stay away from, but there is no way in hell that’s happening now.

Review: So Right With You by Maggie Kaye

Everyone knows I like some angst in my romances. There’s something about having to fight to be with the ones you love. But every once in a while it’s nice to get a story where there is no angst. There’s a little misunderstanding, a little romance, and everything working out. But it’s a sweet story. It’s a story of finding the one you were meant to be with and having it all come together like the perfect outfit.
So Right With You by Maggie Kaye is that book. There’s a little misunderstanding, a little romance and it all comes together like the perfect outfit. It’s a wonderful story of romance, love and happily ever after.
Chloe works for a rich Playboy extraordinaire. He never dates the same woman for long and he enjoys his privacy. When Chloe finds herself in a difficult situation, her boss Garrett Nolan steps in to help her out. While staying with Garrett she learns a whole new side to him. One she never imagined and she falls ass over teakettle in love with him.
But does he love her? She’s convinced he’s not the permanent type. She’s convinced she’ll have to leave him. Garrett sets out to prove his love for her.

This was a sweet story. Romantic, sweet, loving. I loved it. Chloe and Garrett came together like the perfect outfit. It all fit and they look great together. Garrett is pretty much the perfect man. Chloe was his perfect foil. She stepped in and did what needed to be done. Watching them interact and fall in love was like being curled up on the couch with a cup of hot cocoa, a fire in the fireplace and the one you love snuggled in with you. In other words, perfect.

Review: The Wikomsette by Emerald Lavere

Regina gets through her life day by day.  She is alone, her husband dies four years earlier, she has no family or friends and she likes it this way.  She hasn’t gotten over the loss of her husband so each day is a struggle for her.  One minute she is walking to her car, the next she is in this jungle.  Thinking that possibly she passed out and hit her head that everything is just some delusion caused by head trauma.  Quickly she learns that is so not the case when she meets a group of men speaking a language she doesn’t know who are all looking at her like she is a piece of prime rib when all they have had is ground round for years.
Regina quickly learns that these 8 men won’t allow her to be lonely, as they are her tribe.  She was promised to them, she is the Wikomsette.  She at first is unaware of what this means but finds out fast that she is in essence their wife.  Each man is different in their own way, one though refuses to ever be with her and one creeps her out.  The rest though, each have their own way to bringing her pleasure, each are so different, but there are three that she must watch out for because they will be the ones that will hurt her heart if they get too close.
Slowly Regina begins to piece together what is going on, but until she can get answers from Niku, the leader of the group, then she will have to just find ways to get her answers.  When something happens and Regina is separated from the group, she quickly finds out she had no idea the scope of what was going on.  She is scared that she will never see her men again and almost is lost forever in this time.  When she is found she is finally told what has been happening and some of the truths she learns are heart breaking to her.  She doesn’t know what to do about her feelings for her men and for what she found out especially knowing that their time together is limited.
I will be completely honest, I had read The Wikomsette as a beta as a favor for a friend and the first time I read it I hated it.  When this same friend asked me to review it I was like I hated it when I Beta read it I am pretty sure I am going to hate it now.  Well I couldn’t have been more wrong.  I liked it when I read it this time.  It is different, it is fantasy and romance and a little erotic but it works.  The connection that Regina feels towards her men is all as different as each man is.  Some she has more feeling towards than others, and there is one who holds her heart.  Knowing that their time is limited makes you ask yourself, what will happen, will she be ok when she returns, will she beg to join them, will they stay with her and keep her from the loneliness that was her life before becoming the Wikomsette?
Ms. Lavere has made me want to explore more fantasy romance with her book.  I actually would love a follow up to this, maybe from the men’s POV.  So if you are on the fence about reading this book, go ahead jump on the reading side and give it an honest chance, or an honest second chance like I did.  I think you may enjoy it.
